NA3HL announces monthly player awards for November

December 4, 2013

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced its monthly player awards for the month of November.  The Easton Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month is Jace Childs from the Twin City Steel.  The Easton Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month is Ron Lindgren from the North Iowa Bulls.  The Brian’s Custom Sports NA3HL Goaltender of the Month is Scott Murray from the Granite City Lumberjacks.  Only players who are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the NA3HL monthly awards.

Easton Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month: Jace Childs, Twin City Steel

Rarely (if ever) has the NA3HL seen a month like Twin City forward Jace Childs, 20, put together in November. In just 11 games during the month, the Burnsville, Minnesota native put up a whopping 28 points, which included 13 goals and 15 assists. He was also an amazing +18 during the month as well. It is one of the major reasons that Childs is the second leader scorer in the league to date with 45 points. Childs (5’7/145) was bolstered in the month by a 12-point NA3HL Showcase, in which the Twin City forward not only led his team to another undefeated record at the event, but also earned West Star of the Week honors for his efforts. Childs is current riding a 10-game point streak in which he recorded all his 28 points in the month of November. It included six games with three points or more. “Jace is an all-around hockey player that plays all facets of the game,” said Twin City head coach Aaron Koosman. “He is on the first power play unit as well as the first penalty kill unit. He is a dedicated worker with a lot of competition in him and an all around great kid.”

Easton Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month: Ron Lindgren, North Iowa Bulls

North Iowa Bulls defenseman Ron Lindgren, 20, recorded 11 of his 15 points to date during the month of November and did it all in just 10 games. The second-year defenseman from Janesville, Wisconsin also finished November with a +10 rating as North Iowa put together a 10-1 record during the month. Lindgren (6’1/200) recorded a point in six of the 10 games during November and was even or better in all 10 games. He also had three multi-point games during the month, including a four-point effort in a 7-5 road win in Alexandria back on Nov. 15th. Lindgren has 15 points in 17 games this season and is a +16.  In 61 career games with the Bulls in the NA3HL, Lindgren has recorded 44 career points and is an astounding +64 in that time frame. “Ron has been a leader and having him in that role really helps us be a better team,” said Bulls head coach Todd Sanden. “He takes the game seriously and has the ability to play in all situations, which really give us a lot of flexibility.”

Brian’s Custom Sports NA3HL Goaltender of the Month: Scott Murray, Granite City Lumberjacks

In one of the closest races for monthly awards this season, Granite City’s Scott Murray, 20, picked up right where he left off last season with another remarkable start to the 2013-14 season, which was accentuated during the month of October. Granite City sits atop of the NA3HL West Division thanks to their 10-2 mark during the month, but Murray (6’2/185) was a perfect 6-0 in the games he played in. The native of Yorktown, Virginia also posted a 1.83 goals against average during November, along with a 90.9% save percentage to go along with one shutout. Murray began the month with a shutout of the Minnesota Flying Aces. He also picked up two wins at the NA3HL Showcase over St. Louis and Topeka. This is Murray’s second season with the Lumberjacks. He posted an incredible 23-4-2 record last season, which brings his NA3HL career record to 34-6-2. His 11 wins rank 2nd in the NA3HL. “Scott’s major asset is that he has been real consistent for us and that he has improved every day since he has been here,” said Granite City head coach Brad Willner. “He plays every game like he wants to be the starting guy and go-to guy. The team plays with confidence when he is in goal.”
