Flint 4 @ Metro 1 (Flint wins best of three series, 2-0) – Flint sweeps the series with a 4-1 win in game 2.  Flint gets on the board first with a power play goal from Zach Koonce. Leppek and Makranyi get the assists on the play. There’s no scoring in the 2nd, but in the 3rd, 4 goals are scored between the 2 teams. Metro ties the game up at 1 a piece with a goal from Brad Hepler. Flint strikes back with 3 goals to take the game. Flints goals are scored by Mark McGee, Reno de Hondt, and Caleb Gannelli. Anders Franke gets the win in net with 17 saves. Boxscore

Chicago 3 @ Peoria 7 (Peoria wins best of three series, 2-0) – Peoria takes the series with a 7-3 win in game 2. Peoria starts the scoring off early with a goal from Nathan Chasteen. Chicago counters with a power play goal from Joey Marvin to tie the game up but Peoria gets another from Blake Ortman before the period ends. In the 2nd, Peoria tacks on another 3 goals from Hart, Anderson, and Murphy and Chicago gets one from Maksimovic. Assists on the play come from Wachal and Blaszkiewicz. In the 3rd Chicago gets a short handed goal from Godfrey. Peoria adds on 2 more during power plays before the game ends. Marc Hayton gets the win in net with 37 saves. Boxscore

North Iowa 10 @ Twin City 5 (North Iowa wins best of three series, 2-0) – North Iowa seals their spot in the next round with a 10-5 win over Twin City in game 2. North Iowa gets on the board first with 2 goals from Austin Jackson and Kyle Krueger. Twin City counters with a power play goal from Calvin Miska. In the 2nd North Iowa tacks on another 4 goals from Marenis, Brown, Iverson, and Penvose. Twin City gets a short handed goal from Isaac Hale with assists from Childs and Duffney. In the 3rd period another 7 goals are scored. North Iowa gets 4, 2 from Kroska and the other 2 from Iverson and Jonasson. Twin City manages to get 3 more with 2 coming from Duffney and one from Childs. Jordan Moran gets the win in net with 25 saves. Boxscore

Pittsburgh 1 @ Cleveland 2 (Cleveland wins best of three series, 2-0) – It was a close battle but Cleveland gets the win to move them through to the next round.  The scoring remains tied at zero through the 1st. Cleveland gets on the board first with a goal from Nick Balavich. Ryan Wandzel and Ben Lau get the assist on the play. Pittsburgh ties the game up with a power play goal from Alex Berardinelli with assists from Cummings and Pokka. Cleveland’s Matt Wipper gets the game winning goal with the assists coming from Palasics and Dalton. Tyler Jansen gets the win in net with 35 saves. Boxscore

Granite City 3 @ Alexandria 2 (Best of three series tied 1-1) – Granite City ties the series up at one a piece with a 3-2 win in game 2. The 1st period remains scoreless but Alexandria gets the scoring started off in the 2nd with a power play goal from Aaron Ryback. Schmidt and Kihle get the assists on the play. Granite City ties the game up with a power play goal from Luke Richardson at just under half way through the period. Alexandria gets the go ahead goal at the start of the 3rd on a penalty shot from Joe Anderson.  Granite City ties the game back up with a goal from Travis Kothenbeutel. Taylor Brown gets a short handed goal for Granite City to take the lead and hold on for the win. Scott Murray gets the win with 30 saves. Boxscore

Wisconsin 3 @ St. Louis 4 (St. Louis wins best of three series, 2-0) – St. Louis takes the series with a 4-3 win in game 2. St. Louis gets the 1st period started off with a goal coming from Alex Klaesner. Wisconsin counters shortly after with a goal from Kaleb Morley to tie it at one. In the 2nd period St. Louis adds another 2 goals, one from Mike Lozano and the other from Alex Klaesner on a power play. Wisconsin starts the scoring off in the 3rd with a goal from Ryan Martin. Maxwell Cobb scores for St. Louis to increase the lead to 2. Wisconsin then gets a power play goal from Mitch Riese but it wasn’t enough. Cooper Cothran gets the win in net with 33 saves.
