Dallas defenseman Choate makes NCAA commitment

April 10, 2014
The Dallas Jr. Stars, proud members of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), announced that defenseman Cam Choate (6'4/215) has officially committed to NCAA Division III Aurora University.

A native of Plano, Texas, Choate appeared in 38 regular season games this year notching 10 goals, 28 assists and 168 PIMs.

“Cam has great size for a defenseman and he has improved since Day 1 with our team. He has a great shot and is very effective when he can put it on net and create offense for us. His size and his offensive ability make him a prospect for the next level of hockey,” said Dallas head coach Jason Deitsch.

In the South Division playoffs, Choate notched four assists in four games, was a +2 with 13 PIMs.

Choate was South Division star of the week twice and was named the NA3HL's Defenseman of the month in February. During the month Choate had 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) and was also a +6.

Cam played one season in the AJHL before returning to Texas to join the expansion Dallas Jr Stars. During the 2010-11 and 2011-12 season, Choate played in the NAPHL for the Texas Tornado.

Choate becomes the 2nd official commitment to Aurora and the 3rd NCAA commit so far for the Dallas Jr. Stars.
