Mustangs forward Scofield signs NAHL tender
April 29, 2014
The Peoria Mustangs, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Andrew Scofield has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Kenai River Brown Bears. The Brown Bears compete of the NAHL Midwest Division.
Scofield, 19, just completed his first season playing in the NA3HL with the Mustangs. The native of Northfield, Minnesota, ranked 3rd on the team in scoring this past season with 55 points (34 goals, 21 points). Scofield’s (5’11/180) 34 goals tied for the team lead this season.
In the playoffs, Scofield produced as well as he recorded four points in five playoff games, which included three goals, which tied for the team lead.
Scofield was selected to participate in the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for Team Central, where he recorded two points in three games.
Scofield also got some NAHL experience during the 2013-14 season, playing in games for both the Springfield Jr. Blues and Lone Star Brahmas.
Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Scofield had a standout career with Northfield High School in Minnesota, where he recorded 49 points in his senior season. During the second half of the season, Scofield played in the MNJHL.
Scofield is the second Mustangs player to sign an NAHL tender this season, joining teammate Brennan Anderson (Lone Star).
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
