Flying Aces forward Gullickson signs NAHL tender
May 28, 2014
The Minnesota Flying Aces, proud members of the NA3HL, have announced that forward AJ Gullickson has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Odessa Jackalopes. The Jackalopes compete in the NAHL’s South Division.
Gullickson, 19, just completed his first season in the NA3HL with the Flying Aces. The native of Edgewood, Wisconsin, was 4th in team scoring during his first season of junior hockey. In 47 games played, Gullickson (5’10/165) recorded 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists). His 15 goals ranked 3rd on the team.
Gullickson also was selected to play for Team West at the 2014 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, where he had an assist in three wins as West won the event.
Last season, Gullickson played high school hockey for the Madison Edgewood Crusaders, where he had 34 points in 21 regular season games. He was also named the city's most valuable player at the 50th annual Madison High School Hockey celebration in the Spring of 2013.
Gullickson is the second Flying Aces player this season to sign an NAHL tender, joining teammate Jake Mullendore (Fairbanks).
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 3, 2014.
