St. Louis forward McGlynn signs NAHL tender

January 26, 2015
The St. Louis Jr. Blues of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Andy McGlynn has been signed to an NAHL tender by the Corpus Christi IceRays for the 2015-16 season.

McGlynn started the season with the Springfield Jr. Blues in the NAHL where he notched two points in 10 games before Christmas.

When he returned home to St. Louis with the Jr. Blues, McGlynn made an immediate impact on the Jr. Blues scoring 9 points in only 4 games with St. Louis.

McGlynn also played in the 2014 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament last season for Team Central.

Head Coach Chris Flaugher said, "Andy coming home was hopefully good for several reasons. First he gets to come home and regain his confidence. When you are young and used only sporadically, it can have a negative impact on your confidence. Here he gets to come home, play with no pressure and regain his touch. Second, he's a big part of the team and will get a lot of ice time. Finally, he gets to go back to his school with his friends."

Because of his renewed confidence, McGlynn has gotten a second opportunity to play at that level by signing a tender with the Corpus Chrisit IceRays for next season.

He will potentially be joining Frankie Melton next season. Flaugher continued, "He has shown that he can be and is successful at this level, now he just needs to take that confidence to Corpus next season. He can dominate a game and will do a great job for Corpus next season."

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2015.
