Texas Jr. Brahmas forward Ford signs NAHL tender

March 25, 2015
The Texas Brahmas, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Nick Ford has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Brookings Blizzard. The Blizzard compete in the NAHL’s Central Division.

Ford (6'0/185), a Chicago, Illinois native, who just completed his first season of junior hockey, split time between both Brahmas organizations at the NAHL and NA3HL level this past season.

He finished the 2014-15 regular season with Texas in the NA3HL, amassing 18 points in the final 6 games, which earned him NA3HL Forward of the Month honors for February. During the six games he played at the end of the regular season, Ford recorded at least three points in all of the games but one. He had two four-point games during the month and was also a +13. He then added 7 points in 4 playoff games for the Brahmas as they fell in the South Division finals to close out their season.

"Nick was a big contributor for us at the end of the season, and a large reason for our late season success,” said Brahmas Head Coach Al Rooney. "He has nothing left to prove at this level and will contribute nicely for Brookings next year I'm sure. He worked hard at the end of the season to show that he belongs in the NAHL and I think he obviously left little doubt about that. I look forward to seeing the role he will play for them next season and wish him nothing but success."

While playing for Lone Star in the NAHL this season, Ford, 19, had 10 points in 33 games played.

Prior to this season, Ford spent a year playing junior hockey in Canada in the CCHL.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June 9, 2015.
