Wisconsin forward Henderson makes NCAA commitment

April 27, 2015
The Wisconsin Whalers, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Peter Henderson has committed to play NCAA hockey at Nichols College. Based out of Dudley, Massachusetts, Nichols College is an NCAA Division III program that plays in the ECAC Northeast Conference.

Henderson, 20, just completed his first season of junior hockey in the NA3HL. He was named the NA3HL Forward of the Year, as well as, the NA3HL Rookie of the Year.

Henderson was dominant in the league this season, as he led the NA3HL in points (85), assists (52) and was tied for 2nd in goals with 31. His 85 points were 15 more points than the next closest competitor.

The Libertyville, Illinois native was named NA3HL Forward of the Month in November and he also led the Whalers in playoff scoring this season with seven points in five games. Henderson also recorded two points in two games while playing for the Central Division team at the 2015 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.

Last season was spent almost entirely playing Midget 18U hockey for the Tier II Northwest Chargers in suburban Chicago.

“Peter was one of our most consistent players all season.  He sees the ice vey well and used his speed and skill to his advantage. He is ready for the next step in his career and we are proud to say that will be in the NCAA,” said Wisconsin Whalers head coach Tom McDermott.
