The Toledo Cherokee of the NA3HL is pleased to announce that forward Mark McGee has committed to play his collegiate hockey at Oakland University in the ACHA Division I starting in the fall.
The 20-year-old joined the Toledo Cherokee in October after being sent to Toledo by the Michigan Warriors of the NAHL. McGee suited up for 35 games with the Cherokee scoring 16 goals and adding 25 assists for a total of 41 points. The Canton, MI native spent the 2013-14 season with the Flint Generals helping guide them to the Tier III National Championship Tournament.
McGee is also a veteran of two NA3HL Top Prospects Tournaments, playing in the event in both 2014 and 2015.
“Mark is a guy that came in and made an immediate impact on our team, he is highly skilled and makes plays all over the rink. Oakland is getting a top notch player and an even better kid, I am happy for him and his family," said head coach Kenny Miller
McGee is the second Cherokee player to commit to school for next season joining Cody Estrel (University of Toledo). Both McGee and Estrel participated in the NA3HL Top Prospects event last season.
