Former Ice Dog Bishop inks with Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens have signed of free agent forward Hunter Bishop, who played for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs during the 2003-04 season, to a two-year contract.
Bishop, a native of Fairbanks, ranked fourth in scoring in his second season with Ohio State University (CCHA) this year. He registered 27 points in 33 games (15 goals, 12 assists). The 22-year-old ranked third in goals and had 22 penalty minutes.
In his sophomore season with Ohio State in 2008-09, Bishop ranked third in scoring with 31 points in 42 games (14 goals, 17 assists).
Bishop totaled seven goals for 21 points in 52 games during his season with the Ice Dogs.
Bishop, who will report to the Hamilton Bulldogs, Montreal's AHL affiliate, participated in the Canadiens’ development camp in 2009.
