Point Mallard names Winkler as new head coach

July 16, 2015

The Point Mallard Ducks hockey club of the NA3HL is proud to announce that Tom Winkler will assume the GM/Head coaching responsibilities for the NA3HL organization.

Winkler has spent the last four seasons at the helm of the NA3HL's Gillette Wild. In his time with the AWHL/NA3HL Wild he led them to a league record of 114-67-10, and the Frontier Division club participated in the post-season in each season.

Along with the on-ice success, his tenure with the Wild also included multiple placement of his players in the NAHL, NCAA Division 3, and prominent ACHA programs. Under his direction the Wild raised over $120,000 for local organizations in Campbell County, the club was the AWHL Organization of the year in its inaugural season in 2011-2012.

Prior to his arrival in Gillette, Winkler coached the Hampton Roads Whalers, St. Louis Junior Blues, and the Bozeman IceDogs of the NAHL. He won two National Championships with the Jr. Blues, a league championship with the Whalers, and league and playoff titles with the IceDogs.  Winkler has also held an intern coaching position with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League.

"I am extremely honored to have this opportunity with the Point Mallard Ducks, I look forward to working with Coach Bushey and building on the success that the club had in its first season. I would like to thank Ryan McCormack and Nathan Bowen for this opportunity," stated Winkler.
