Jr. Brahmas forward Sheptytsky called up to NAHL

November 28, 2015
NA3HL and Texas Jr. Brahmas forward Mykyta Sheptytsky has been called up to play for the Lone Star Brahmas in the NAHL, Texas' NAHL upper affiliate team.

Sheptytsky, 20, who finished 4th in the NA3HL and led the Brahmas in scoring last season with 63 points in 43 games, has continued that torrid pace this season scoring 22 points in 13 games.

He also was selected to and played on the South Division team at the 2015 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Arbor, MI, where he had two points in two games.

"Mykyta played wing for us last season, but has switched to center this season and his defensive play has improved, which I believe is one of the reasons for his call up,” said Head Coach Al Rooney. "He has gotten better away from the puck which is so important for NA3HL players to understand if they not only want to get called up but stay and play at the next level. It's not all about point production, it’s about being reliable and responsible."

The fact that Sheptytsky is a +16 lends credence to the fact that he is being responsible at both ends of the ice. "This is a great opportunity for Shep, and our whole team is excited about it, not just him. It's a chance he has worked very hard for and I'm glad our parent organization is the one to provide him this opportunity. I'm sure he will not let them down,” added Rooney.

The Lone Star Brahmas are at home to take on the Amarillo Bulls in tonight's NAHL action.
