Friday Finals: Kings, Stars pick up wins

Skylands 6 @ East Coast 3 - Skylands relied on the scoring touch of Billy Rafferty, who netted two goals, to beat East Coast, 6-3. Rafferty found the back of the net 12:33 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Skylands and again while 14:19 into the third to make the score 5-3 Skylands. Skylands forced East Coast goalie Travis Spangle to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.  Skylands additionally got points from Cory Decosta, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Hunter Ledwith, who also racked up two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Skylands received assists from Ernest Komarnitskii, who had three, Sean Johnson and Zach Mazzarisi, who contributed one each, and Cole Skelly and Alex Linquito, who each chipped in two. East Coast was helped by Albert Wiggins, who had one goal. Wiggins scored 14:38 into the second period to make the score 3-2 East Coast. Jon Macdonald assisted on the tally. East Coast also had goals scored by Mason Smith and Chris Usseglio, who scored one goal each. More assists for East Coast came via Jon Mathieu, who had two and Jacob Lillidahl, Michael Bellmore, and Rick Mulligan, who contributed one each. Evan Barghout made 31 saves for Skylands on 34 shots. New England 4 @ Northeast 2 - New England and Northeast were evenly matched throughout their contest, but New England made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Ryan Gauvin secured the win for New England with a goal in the third period. New England was sparked by Gauvin, who finished with one goal and one assist. Gauvin scored 14:33 into the third period to make the score 3-2 New England. John Krapian picked up the assist. New England forced Northeast goalie Trevor Trudeau to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. New England also had goals scored by Arya Saliany, Mitchell Fehd, and Jake Latham, who each put in one. In addition, New England received assists from Hunter McTague, who had two and Brian Glover, Steve Crocker, and Chris Benschneider, who each chipped in one. Northeast was led by Kevin Perry, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Perry scored 8:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Northeast. Austin Braley assisted on the tally.
