Texas wins wild 8-7 shootout in Atlanta

Billings 3 @ Great Falls 7 - Great Falls had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over Billings. Great Falls forced Billings' netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 56 shots and forcing 49 saves. Brandon Brown made 39 stops and Gage Overby made 10.  Great Falls was helped by Ricards Bernhards, who tallied one goal and one assist. Bernhards scored 14:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Falls. Wade Wylie provided the assist. Great Falls additionally got points from Kyle Johnson, who also had one goal and one assist and Malachi Bushey, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Texas 8 @ Atlanta 7 (SO) - Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Texas defeated Atlanta in a shootout 8-7 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout. Texas saw a four-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Texas made the score 6-2 on a goal by Zack Andersen at 10:02 in the second period. Atlanta evened things up at 7-7 on a goal by Kyle Rimbach at 19:04 in the third period. Hunter Frado was all over the ice for Texas, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Frado scored 1:43 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Texas. Bryan Whelan assisted on the tally. Texas also got points from Ryan Dunner, who also had one goal and one assist.
