NA3EHL announces Easton Hockey Stars of the Week

February 23, 2016

The North American 3 Eastern Hockey League (NA3EHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Easton Hockey for the week ending February 21, 2016. The divisional stars of the week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the two divisions of the NA3EHL as nominated by their head coaches.

East Division Star of the Week: Jake Latham, forward, New England Stars

The New England Stars are making a series case for top team in the East thanks to their recent run of wins, which continued last weekend in a road sweep of the Skylands Kings. Forward Jake Latham, 20, had a big weekend as the native of Nashua, NH, had seven points in back-to-back 6-1 wins. On Saturday, Latham (5’8/160) had a hat-trick, including the game-winning goal, and added two assists in a 6-1 win. The next night, he added two more goals in a 6-1 win. Latham was also a +3 for the weekend. He is tied for the team lead in points with 47. “Jake's success this weekend stemmed from his commitment to team defense. His offensive talents shine through when he plays a complete 200-foot game. It should be noted that his linemates contributed greatly to his output this weekend as well,” said Stars head coach Darryl Green.

2nd Star: Matt Bauchman, F, East Coast Minutemen

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Ryan Gauvin, F, New England Stars

West Division Star of the Week: Frederic Ampleman, forward, Jersey Shore Wildcats

The Jersey Shore Wildcats clinched the West Division regular season title this past weekend with a pair of wins at Lockport against the Express. Forward Frederic Ampleman, 19, had a good weekend as the native of Victoriaville, PQ, recorded six points in the two wins and was also a +2. On Saturday, Ampleman (5’8/155) scored the overtime-winning goal and added three assists in an 8-7 win. On Sunday, he added two assists in a 4-1 win. For the season, Ampleman is 2nd on his team and 6th overall in the NA3EHL in scoring with 71 points in just 38 games played. “With a few key players injured, Frederic has been showing solid leadership and stepped up his game with others including under tough scenarios.  We had to make several adjustments and Frederic and the rest of the team responded real well,” said Wildcats head coach Eric Brule.
