Cape Cod forward Deady makes NCAA commitment

February 24, 2016
The Cape Cod Islanders of the NA3EHL have announced that forward Aaron Deady has committed to play NCAA Hockey at Franklin Pierce University for the fall of 2016-17.  Franklin Pierce is an NCAA Division II program.

The 6’0/180 lbs. left wing has 24 goals and 23 assists and is a +30 this season for the Cape Cod Islanders.  Deady also was selected to and played on the NA3EHL East Division prospects team that posted a 2-1 record at the NA3HL Showcase in December.

Deady's work ethic and willingness to improve his game on a daily basis was one of the top factors that drew Franklin Pierce assistant coach Roscoe Sweeney to him.

"Aaron is the type of player we look for at Franklin Pierce. He has great speed and can put the puck in the net,” said Sweeney. "He's a guy that has unlimited potential because of his work ethic, he will be a great addition to our roster."

The West Greenwich, Rhode Island native certainly proved his willingness to learn his craft as he spent hours upon hours driving between his home and the Falmouth Ice Arena last summer to work with team president, Dan Hodge at a camp run by Paul Vincent.

"After Aaron signed with us he asked me how he can improve his game. I told he needed to be in the camp with Paul Vincent.  He didn't blink, he was there the next day and I truly believe that Paul's camp pushed Aaron to unlock his potential as a hockey player.  It was impressive to see a young man work so hard and get so much better in a six week period,” stated Hodge.

Deady's work over the summer has paid dividends for the Islanders and head coach Jay Punsky. "Aaron is a hard working, gritty two way forward with a team first mentality.  His work ethic, attention to detail and desire to win has been a positive influence on our locker room,” Punsky said. "I have watched Aaron over the past couple of seasons and am extremely proud and impressed with his development.  He has truly earned this opportunity to pursue his dream of playing college hockey while also securing a first class education."

Deady is now the third Islander to make an NCAA commitment this season, Eric Szeker-St. Olaf (D3 MIAC) Mike Jessman-Post University (D2 Independent)
