Twin City forward Belisle signs NAHL tender

February 26, 2016
The Twin City Steel, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Fritz Belisle has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Minnesota Wilderness who compete in the NAHL’s Midwest Division. The Wilderness are the defending NAHL Robertson Cup Champions.

Belisle, 18, is in his first season of playing junior hockey in the NA3HL for the Steel. The native of Red Wing, Minnesota has appeared in 35 regular season games to date and recorded 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists).

This past week, Belisle was named the NA3HL’s West Division Star of the Week. On Friday, Belisle (5’9/165) had the game-winning goal and an assist in an 8-2 win on the road in Rochester. On Saturday, he had two goals and two assists in an 11-4 home win. In 35 games played this season, Belisle has 22 points, which includes 11 goals and 11 assists.

“Fritz has really shown true progression throughout the year. You never have to question his work ethic on and off the ice.  He is one of those players that you can count on time in and time out, and makes everyone around him better,” said Twin City head coach Jay Witta.

Belisle has played in one game for the Wilderness this season, which came back on January 22nd in a road game in Fairbanks.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June of 2016.
