Bulls forward Mallonee signs NAHL tender

April 13, 2016
The North Iowa Bulls, proud members of the NA3HL are excited to announce that forward Sean Mallonee has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Amarillo Bulls, who play in the NAHL’s South Division.

Mallonee, a native of Kennewick, Washington, was a standout player for the Silver Cup Champion Bulls.  At just 17-years-old, Mallonee was the youngest player on the Bulls. Mallonee excelled in the scoring department recording 38 points in 27 regular season games.  Four of his 15 goals in the regular season were game-winners.

Mallonee was also a member of the NA3HL Top Prospects 18U Selects Black team, where he had two points in three games at the event.

He was also consistent during the playoffs where he scored two goals and added five assists in the seven games he appeared in.  Sean tallied the game winner against La Crosse in the deciding game of the Central Division playoff championship. Mallonee came to the Bulls from their WHL affiliate Everett Silvertips.

“Sean was a player we knew would be successful here.  We had seen him at Amarillo's main camp and our main camp tryout and felt he was definitely someone who could help our team.  He didn't disappoint,” said North Iowa head coach Todd Sanden. “He was sent initially to us as a conditioning and confidence builder from Everett, but it didn't take him long to make an impact with the Bulls where his work ethic and production kept him in a veteran laden line up. We wish him much success with this opportunity and thank him for his dedication to our team.”

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
