Steel trio of Kreuser, Witta and Perunovich sign NAHL tenders

April 18, 2016
The Twin City Steel, proud members of the NA3HL are excited to announce that forward Luc Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, WI), defenseman Bennett Witta (Minnetonka, MN) and defenseman Luke Perunovich (Edina, MN) have all signed NAHL tenders with the Northeast Generals.  The Generals are a new expansion team in the NAHL for the 2016-17 season.

Krueser, a native of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin was stellar in his first year in the NA3HL In 54 games played Kreuser was second on the Steel in scoring with 62 points (23 goals and 39 assists) and a +24 rating.

In addition to being a leader for the Steel Kreuser was also selected as a member of the top prospects tournament in February.

"Luc was an exceptional player to coach," said Steel Head Coach Jay Witta. "His drive to improve and his vision on the ice will translate well at the next level. I am excited to see the big things in store for Luc."

Joining Kreuser at the Generals are Steel blueliners Bennett Witta and Luke Perunovich.

Witta, a Minnetonka Minnesota native was in his second full season with the Steel. Witta led the Steel defensive core in scoring during the regular season with 27 points (6 goals and 21 assists) in 46 games played. In addition he was a member of the top prospects tournament in Michigan during February.

"Bennett truly epitomizes the word development and improvement." said Steel General Manager Bryant Black. "The way he has progressed this season is remarkable and I am positvie he will continue to develop and become a better hockey player at the next level."

Finally joining Witta and Kreuser is Luke Perunovich an Edina, Minnesota native. Luke joined the steel later in the season but in his 19 games he quickly left his mark on the Steel blueline.

"Coming in mid season can be difficult for some players," said Head Coach Witta. "But the transition for Luke was so simple and smooth. He was a staple on the blueline and one of the best defenseman in the league this season."

"The Northeast Generals are incredibly excited to have signed 3 players from Twin-City Steel," said Generals Head Coach Brian Erikson. "Each player brings his own unique style and personality to the team but they are the exact type of kid we were targeting from day 1, great kids off the ice and good hockey players with the chance to be great.  Bennett Witta has a unique style to his game, he's big and mean but also has the ability to change the game with his offensive skills, he is an impact player for us.  Luke Perunovich is a player who can help control the game from the blue line with his high hockey IQ, quick feet and great positioning.  Luc Krueser brings NAHL ready speed to our offense.  He's a 2 way forward that is incredibly good in the defensive zone but also has the speed and hands to be a force on the scoresheet.

Krueser, Witta and Perunovich join Belisle and Mckeeby making that 5 NAHL tenders sign by the steel this season.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 7, 2016.
