Freeze edge Whalers in OT on Thursday

Wisconsin 5 @ La Crosse 6 (OT) – Veteran forward JP Eykyn scored two goals, including the overtime-winner, and had two assists as the La Crosse Freeze came from behind to beat the Whalers in overtime, 6-5. The Whalers had leads of 2-0 and 4-2, only to see the Freeze come back each time. The Whalers got 1st period goals from Drew Steines and Clayton Brown, a 2nd period goal from Connor Boscaccy and 3rd period goals from Carter Grobstick and Austin Lewis. The Freeze got two goals from Eykyn and others from Sam Dabrowski, Patrick Gazich, Kadin Machusak and Kevin Bryant.  Bryant’s goal tied the game at 5-5 late in the 3rd period with just :35 seconds remaining in regulation.
