NA3HL announces Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week

Honors go to Spencer Hadacek (Rochester), Connor Busch (Maine), Tyler Groth (Wooster), Cade Boreing (Gillette), Brandon Rozema (Evansville), Blake Bennett (Lockport), Tucker Alspaugh (Louisiana), and Dylan Gast (Willmar).

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) announced today the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending December 18, 2016. The divisional stars of the week are an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Spencer Hadacek, forward, Rochester Ice Hawks
Earning Rochester’s first hat-trick of the season, forward Spencer Hadacek shined in the Ice Hawks’ contest against Cape Code on Sunday. The Mason City, IA native was +3 with three goals over the weekend, one of which was on the power play. “Spencer's performance all weekend was excellent. He continued to bring his top-notch work ethic, and was rewarded with a hat-trick on our last game of the weekend. Hadacek helped Rochester pick up a Win over Cape Cod,” said Head Coach Eric Hofmann.

2nd Star: Connor Clemons, forward, North Iowa Bulls
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jake Faulkner, defenseman, Wisconsin Whalers – Anthony Fortin, forward, Wisconsin Whalers – Jason Miner, defenseman, North Iowa Bulls

 

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Connor Busch, defenseman, Maine Wild
Playing all 200-feet this weekend, defenseman Connor Busch made his presence known during the NA3HL Showcase. The Lake of the Hills, IL native registered seven points this weekend including three goals (one game-winner and one short-handed goal), and four assists. Busch was +5 through three games in Blaine.  “Connor is one of best D men in our league. He is a leader on our team and works daily with our younger players,” said Head Coach Jack Lowry.

2nd Star: Leo Lake, goaltender, Northeast Generals
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Dan Moore, forward, Cape Cod Islanders

 

East Division Star of the Week: Tyler Groth, defenseman, Wooster Oilers
Helping the Wooster Oilers to a weekend sweep, defenseman Tyler Groth stepped up his game from the blue line. The South Lyon, MI native notched five points (one goal and four assists) and was +5 through three games. “Tyler Groth helped us defensively throughout the entire showcase. We were 100% on our penalty kill through the showcase and Tyler was a huge part of that. Not only that, he also contributed offensively putting up five points in three games (1 G, 4 A),” said Assistant General Manager and Head Coach Aaron Hernandez.

2nd Star: Andrew Kormos, goaltender, Metro Jets
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Louis Boudon, forward, Metro Jets – Ben Hamilton, defenseman, Toledo Cherokee – Ricky Kwapich, forward, Toldeo Cherokee – Mike Zenone, forward, Wooster Oilers

 

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Cade Boreing, forward, Gillette Wild
With six points at the NA3HL Showcase, Gillette’s Cade Boreing helped the Wild to a perfect weekend sweep. The Littleton, CO native registered three goals (two game-winning goals and one on the power-play), three assists, and was a +5.  “Cade had a great weekend for us at the showcase. He helped us go 3-0 at the showcase, and we look for Cade continue to help us in the second half of the year,” said Head Coach Brendon Hodge.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Brandon Rozema, forward, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts
Evansville’s Brandon Rozema led the way for the Jr. Thunderbolts’ offense through three tough games this weekend. The Grandville, MI native tallied seven points (two goals, five assists) and was +3 while in Blaine. “Rozema has been a leader all year, and this weekend he was nothing but great. He leads on and off the ice, that's why he our captain. He works hard and is willing to pay the price to score a goal,” said Head Coach Dylan Clarke.

2nd Star: Jake Ustorf, forward, Cincinnati Thunder
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Daniel Dunaway, forward, St. Louis Jr. Blues – Jack Hatton, forward, St. Louis Jr. Blues – Cameron Sangster, forward, Cincinnati Thunder

 

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Blake Bennett, forward, Lockport Express
Heating up in the Northeast this weekend was Blake Bennett of the Lockport Express, who contributed eleven points in the team’s Showcase sweep. The Grand Island, NY native grabbed six goals and five assists through three games, which included two power-play goals and a game-winning goal. Bennett was +10 through the weekend.  “Blake Bennett is a pure goal scorer, plain and simple.  He always finds a way to put the puck in the net,” said General Manager and Head Coach Frank Vecchio.

2nd Star: Ryan Flanagan, forward, Binghamton Jr. Senators
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Andrew Logar, forward, Lockport Express – Cole Skelly, defenseman, Binghamton Jr. Senators

 

South Division Star of the Week: Tucker Alspaugh, defenseman, Louisiana Drillers
Drillers’ defenseman Tucker Alspaugh started his weekend at the NA3HL Showcase by scoring a breakaway, game-winning goal with seven seconds left for Louisiana. The Lafayette, LA native gathered two goals, three assists, and was +1 in a three-game weekend for the Drillers. Alspaugh commented on his weekend by saying, “Being able to help the team by scoring a few goals is a good feeling.” "Tucker is a raw talent that skates as good as anyone in this league. He's a player that can play in all situations in a game," said head coach Shawn McNeil.

2nd Star: Sascha Figi, forward, Atlanta Capitals
Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jesse Brown, forward, Atlanta Capitals – Gary Glassman, goaltender, Point Mallard Ducks – Niki Raiskio, defenseman, Louisiana Drillers

 

West Division Star of the Week: Dylan Gast, forward, Willmar WarHawks
Sparking the offense in Willmar’s NA3HL Showcase sweep was forward Dylan Gast. The White Bear Lake native stayed hot with six points for the WarHawks, registering four goals and two assists. Gast was +7 through the weekend in Blaine. “Dylan was a dominant force all weekend in all aspects of the game. He's just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can do,” said Head Coach Christopher Blaisuis.
