The Atlanta Capitals of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Michael Klintworth has signed an NAHL tender agreement with the Topeka RoadRunners of the NAHL’s South Division.
Klintworth, 18, just completed his first season playing in the NA3HL for the Capitals, who ended up winning the South Division playoff title and advanced to the Silver Cup Championship.
The 6’6/185 lbs. native of Jackson, Michigan, joined Atlanta halfway through the season after played for the Cleveland Jr. Barons 18U team earlier in the season.
In 26 regular season games, Klintworth recorded 30 points with the Capitols, which included 9 goals and 21 assists, along with a +20 rating. In seven playoff games, he chimed in with 6 points.
He spent the 2015-16 season between the Breckenridge Bucks in the RMJHL and the New Jersey Hitmen in the USPHL Elite.
He is the first Capitols player this season to sign an NAHL tender.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 6, 2017.
