Peoria forward Wisely makes NCAA commitment

The Peoria Mustangs of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Austin Wisely has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Hamline University of the MIAC. Hamline is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Wisely, 20, is a native of Chillicothe, Illinois, is a NA3HL veteran who played his entire career with the Mustangs. His career in the NA3HL began during the 2011-12 season with the Mustangs.
Wisely (5’11/190) experienced a number of NAHL call-ups over his career. In total, Wisely played 251 games in the NA3HL and NAHL and generated 224 points (109 goals and 115 assists) and had a +111 rating in his career.
Wisely’s most recent two seasons were even more impressive with 120 points in 79 games for a 1.52 points per game average and a +83 rating. Wisely was also selected to and played in the 2017 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament in February.
Wisely leaves the Mustangs as its all-time scoring leader who consistently made his presence felt. Wisely’s teams qualified for the playoffs in every season that he played.
“This past season Austin was a true leader for the Mustangs and inspired his teammates to considerable success. He consistently lead by example and demonstrated a tremendous level of dedication and commitment that is always desired, but rarely seen,” said Mustangs head coach Dave Karpa.
“I have really enjoyed my time with the Mustangs. I’ve met a lot of great guys, many of whom I’ll be friends with for life. The Mustangs have helped me to grow and develop as a hockey player and as a person. And I’m now very anxious and excited to begin the next phase of my hockey and academic career at Hamline,” stated Wisely.
