Friday Finals: Jets open season with resounding win

Metro Jets goalie Brian Tallieu started on Friday and made 15 saves in the win.

Metro 8 @ Lansing 3 - The Metro Jets opened the 2017-18 NA3HL season with a resounding 8-3 win Friday night over the Lansing Wolves at the Summit Sports and Ice Complex. The win was the Jets’ 52nd regular season win in a row. Last season, the Jets went 47-0 during the regular season. Their last regular season loss was on February 27, 2016.
 
Connor Inger recorded two goals and two assists, while Aaron Shahin added a pair of goals and newly-appointed captain Griffin Sawyer and Kyle Gierman each had a goal and two assists. Inger and Sawyer were joined on the top forward line by Mathieu LaForest, who picked up two assists in the game. Trevor Momot and Garrett Wojcicki added single goals and Rhett Limback and Jaylen Dziegelewski posted two assists apiece.
 
In goal, Brian Tallieu started and made 15 saves on 17 shots through 43:07 before giving way to Jacob McClelland, who stopped four of five in the final 16:53.
 
For Lansing, goals came from Michael Schramm, Jacob Deratany, and Blake Siewertsen. Will Ignatovich made 51 saves in goal.
