NA3HL announces Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending October 8, 2017. The divisional stars of the week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Clayton Lackey, Forward, La Crosse Freeze

Lackey, 18, vaulted to the top of the scoring leaderboard for the La Crosse Freeze as he recorded four goals and three assists this past weekend. Three of those goals came on Friday night for a hat trick against the Willmar Warhawks. One of those goals came on the power play as he led the Freeze to a weekend sweep of Willmar.

2nd Star: Keaton Caplis, F, La Crosse Freeze

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Marc Faia, Forward, Northeast Generals

It was a three game weekend for the Northeast Generals of the Coastal Division and Marc Faia made the most of it as he logged five goals and two assists. After scoring a goal on Friday night, Faia doubled up with two more on Saturday. He continued his fantastic weekend by lighting the lamp two more times on Sunday. The Everett, Massachusetts native finished plus-7 over the three game stretch.

2nd Star: Connor Barter, F, New England Stars

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Derek Flynn, D, New England Stars – Cam St. Amand, F, Cape Cod Islanders – Cole Therrian, F, Cape Cod Islanders – Luke Whalen, D, Northeast Generals

 

East Division Star of the Week: Cole Barney, Defense, Wooster Oilers

The veteran defenseman had himself a stellar weekend in Lansing against the Wolves. On Friday night, Barney notched two assists and finished as plus-2. Then on Saturday, the 19-year old found the back of the net and assisted on another Oilers goal. The goal was his first of the season and after the weekend, Barney now has 10 points on the season.

2nd Star: Connor Inger, F, Metro Jets

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Kyle Gierman, F, Metro Jets – Justyn Gillis, G, Wooster Oilers – Dom Glavach, F, Pittsburgh Vengeance – Tyler Hawk, G, Pittsburgh Vengeance

 

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Reid Wasczcenko, Goalie, Yellowstone Quake

The workhorse of the Yellowstone Quake, Reid Wasczcenko was the backstop to the Quake’s sweep of the Gilette Wild this past weekend. On Friday night, Wasczcenko stopped 41 of 44 shots. That effort alone would get him player of the week consideration, but it was his 43 save shutout on Saturday that pushed him to the top. The Plymouth, Minnesota native is now 5-2 on the season with a goals against average of 2.01 and a save percentage of .949.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Jack Hatton, Forward, St. Louis Jr. Blues

Coming off a 50 goal season last year, Jack Hatton impressed in his first weekend of the 2017-18 season. The Naperville, Illinois native scored a goal and had an assist in Friday night’s win over the North Iowa Bulls. On Saturday, Hatton contributed with two assists in another St. Louis win. He finished the weekend with a plus-1 rating.

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Eric Vanderhoff, Forward, Skylands Kings

Vanderhoff, 17, catapulted to the top of the NA3HL scoring race with an incredible 11 point weekend. The Skylands Kings forward blew up for four goals and two assists on Friday night. The Vernon, New Jersey native followed that effort up with another goal and two assists on Saturday and ended his three game weekend with another goal and an assist. Vanderhoff had a pair of power play goals and the game winning goal on Friday night.

2nd Star: Eddie Cannon, F, Oswego Stampede

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Brandon Corey, F, Roc City Royals – Steven Ford, F, Skylands Kings – Steven Kozikoski, G, Oswego Stampede

 

South Division Star of the Week: Remy Kesling, Forward, Mid Cities Jr. Stars

The Keller, Texas native celebrated his 18th birthday in a big way this past weekend as the Stars swept the College Station Spirit. On Saturday, Kesling scored a pair of goals and added an assist. On Sunday, Kesling added another two goals in another big win. The forward finished the weekend with a plus-5 rating and was credited with the game winning goal on Sunday.

2nd Star: Cameron Smith, F, Atlanta Capitals

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jake Ange, G, Mid Cities Jr. Stars – Mitch Dolese, D, Louisiana Drillers – Kevin LaPlante, D, Point Mallard Ducks – Jesse Stepp, F, Point Mallard

 

West Division Star of the Week: Chase Di Bari, Forward, Granite City Lumberjacks

Di Bari, 19, had himself quite the weekend in Granite City as the Lumberjacks swept the Wisconsin Whalers. On Friday night, Di Bari assisted on four Lumberjacks goals before scoring himself in Saturday night’s matchup. The Ladera Ranch, California native finished the weekend with a plus-5 rating to go with his five point weekend.

2nd Star: Josh Maucieri, F, Breezy Point North Stars

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Brandon Bissett, F, Granite City Lumberjacks – Lucas Ehrlich, G, Breezy Point North Stars
