NA3HL announces Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending October 15, 2017. The divisional stars of the week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Caleb Beversdorf, Forward, La Crosse Freeze

Beversdorf, 18, had himself quite the weekend against as the La Crosse Freeze swept the Wisconsin Whalers. The Hartland, Wisconsin native notched a hat trick on Saturday night and finished the weekend with five points. The La Crosse forward scored a power play goal and had a plus-5 rating in the two game series.

2nd Star: Noah Roach, F, Rochester Ice Hawks

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Caleb Labrie, Forward, L/A Nordiques

There’s a new leader at the top of the NA3HL points race and his name is Caleb Labrie. The 18-year old from the L/A Nordiques scored seven goals over three games including a hat trick and five total points on Wednesday in a win over the Cape Cod Islanders. The Greene, Maine native followed up his hat trick with another four goals over the weekend. Labrie currently leads the NA3HL points race with 28 points on the season.

East Division Star of the Week: Garrett Daum, Forward, Lansing Wolves

A native of Big Rapids, Michigan, Garrett Daum had his best weekend of the season as the Wolves swept the Southern Tier Xpress. On Saturday, Daum scored a goal and had two assists in a 5-2 victory, while on Sunday he scored a power play goal that proved to be the game winner. Daum finished the weekend with a plus-2 rating.

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Misha Akatnov, Forward, Missoula Jr. Bruins

The 19-year old forward was all over the scoresheet this past weekend as his Jr. Bruins swept the Gillette Wild. On Friday night, Akatnov’s four goals and one assist propelled the Missoula offense to a 10-4 victory. The following night, Akatnov found the back of the net two more times to finish the weekend with six goals and seven points. In both games, Akatnov was credited with the game winning goal. He is currently tied for fourth in goals with 12 on the season.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Ivan Galaguzov, Forward, St. Louis Jr. Blues

The veteran Russian forward was able to find twine on Friday night as the Jr. Blues defeated the Jr. Thunderbolts 6-3 but he saved his best performance for the series finale on Saturday. Galaguzov scored twice and assisted on three other goals en route to a five point night. He scored the game winning goal in the second game of the series and finished the weekend plus-4.

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Will Walker, Forward, Oswego Stampede

Walker, 17, left his mark on the cataract city as he left with three points in their two game split with the Niagara Falls PowerHawks. The Raleigh, North Carolina native scored a goal and added two assists in the two games.

2nd Star: Josh Watterson, F, Oswego Stampede

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Branden Tripi, F, Niagara Falls PowerHawks – Nathan Walerowicz, D, Niagara Falls PowerHawks

 

South Division Star of the Week: Hunter Bersani, Forward, Texas Brahmas

The native of Allen, Texas had a breakout weekend against the Mid Cities Jr. Stars. Bersani scored a pair of goals in the first meeting on Friday night and added an assist in the 5-2 win. In the following game, the Texas forward scored another two goals and registered two more assists in a 6-4 victory. The 19-year old scored two power play goals and finished with a plus-3 rating.

2nd Star: Cameron Smith, F, Atlanta Capitals

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Luke Bombardir, D, Texas Brahmas – Nick Sheridan, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars – Brandon Speights, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars – Griffin Varricchio, F, Louisiana Drillers

 

West Division Star of the Week: Austin Langworthy, Forward, Breezy Point North Stars

The Breezy Point veteran forward put the team on his back this weekend as he led the North Stars offense with four points. On Thursday, Langworthy scored a goal and had one assist in his team’s 6-2 loss to New Ulm. The Mankato, Minnesota native responded with another two goals including the game winning goal in a 4-3 win over Alexandria on Friday. Two of Langworthy’s three goals on the weekend came on the power play.

2nd Star: Luke Fry, G, Willmar Warhawks

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Braden Altena, F, Granite City Lumberjacks – Jacob Berkowitz, F, Willmar Warhawks – Lucas Ehrlich, G, Breezy Point North Stars – Jake Van Halbeck, F, Granite City Lumberjacks
