NA3HL announces Bauer Divisional Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending December 3, 2017. The divisional stars of the week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the eight divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Tyler Bump, Forward, North Iowa Bulls

The 20-year from Prior Lake, Minnesota feasted on the Wausau RiverWolves as the North Iowa Bulls picked up a two game sweep. Bump put up back-to-back four point games as he had a goal and three assists on Friday night. He followed up that big game with three goals and one assist. Bump leads the Bulls in points with 40 through 21 games this season.

2nd Star: Luke Hefty, D, Wisconsin Whalers

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Cam St. Amand, Forward, Cape Cod Islanders

The leading scorer from the Cape Cod Islanders had another good weekend as the Islanders split the weekend series with the New England Stars and Maine Wild. On Saturday, St. Amand scored a pair of goals and added an assist. His third period goal proved to be the game winner. On Sunday, St. Amand scored a shorthanded goal in a loss to New England. For the season, St. Amand has 16 goals and 25 points in 21 games this year.

East Division Star of the Week: Brendan Smith, Forward, Lansing Wolves

Another leading scorer is being named the star of the week as Brendan Smith takes home East Division honors this week. Smith had a tremendous weekend as he recorded a goal and three assists in Friday night’s win over Toledo. The following night, Smith had a hand in all three Lansing goals as he netted one himself while assisting on two others. Through 21 games this season he has 20 points.

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Mason Stewart, Defenseman, Yellowstone Quake

Just named Forward of the Month for the month of November, Mason Stewart has shown no signs of slowing down as the calendar flipped to December. He scored two goals and three assists in a Yellowstone win over Bozeman. He was also a plus-7 in that game. On Saturday, Stewart added a pair of assists in another Quake win. He finished the weekend with a plus-10 rating.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: None (no games)

 

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Brad Becker, Forward, Binghamton Jr. Senators

A second Star of the Week honor in three weeks for Binghamton forward. Becker scored three times and assisted on four other Senator goals in a Sunday victory against the Skylands Kings. He had another three point effort in Saturday’s game as well. Becker leads the Junior Senators in points as he has 21 goals and 45 points in 19 games.

2nd Star: Brandon Corey, F, Roc City Royals

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jason Martinez, G, Roc City Royals Jeremy Wilber, F, Binghamton Jr. Senators

 

South Division Star of the Week: Brody Nielsen, Forward, Atlanta Capitals

It was a three game weekend for the Atlanta Capitals and leading scorer Brody Nielsen was a key contributor during the three game sweep. Friday and Saturday night, Nielsen scored two goals to go with a pair of assists. On Sunday afternoon, the Capitals forward scored another goal and had an assist. In total, the native of Newport, Michigan scored five goals and five assists got go with a plus-5 rating.

2nd Star: Carson Murison, G, Texas Brahmas

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jarod Croswell, D, Texas Brahmas Elijah Gibbons, G, Atlanta Capitals Matt Hutton, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars Jason Koehn, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars

 

West Division Star of the Week: Owen Sikich, Forward, Granite City Lumberjacks

In a wild weekend series with the Willmar Warhawks, Owen Sikch was the best player on the ice as he had back-to-back big games for the defending Fraser Cup champions. On Friday at home, Sikich scored a goal and two assists and then followed that up with a two goal and one assist performance. All three of his goals from this weekend came on the power play. The 20-year old has 24 points in 19 games so far this season.

2nd Star: Brady Meyers, G, Alexandria Blizzard
