NAHL announces third Future Prospects Tournament in Michigan

January 29, 2018
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is pleased to announce the third North American Future Prospects (FPT) Tournament of the 2017-18 season, which will take place from April 13-15, 2018 at Fraser Hockeyland in Fraser, Michigan. The event will take place along side the third NAHL Combine of the 2018 season, which is for junior-aged players born from 1998-2002.

The North American Future Prospects Tournaments are a series of events designed for teams throughout the calendar in-season each year. The Future Prospects Tournament in April is open to any USA Hockey-sanctioned team at the 18U and 16U levels that wish to compete at the Tier I level.

The teams will play an invitational-style tournament. Each FPT will offer a four-game guarantee to all teams. The events are coordinated and operated by the experienced and professional staff of the NAHL. Each FPT will feature a guaranteed scouting presence from NAHL Central Scouting, real-time game updates and statistics provided by LeagueStat and live online video broadcasts of every game by HockeyTV, the official broadcast provider of the NAHL.

A limited number of spots are available for the Future Prospects Tournament in Michigan.  Games will begin Friday morning April 13th and conclude the afternoon of Sunday, April 15th. To register your team and to find out more information, please visit: http://nahlfp.com/fpt/events/1718/fraser/

The NAFP is driven by the NAHL and operated by the NAHL professional staff in order to serve the most valuable asset to hockey…the players. The intent and goal is to provide the aspiring hockey player an opportunity while participating in the NAFP to take part in a one-of-a-kind experience that is designed to maximize exposure at grand-scale events and combines that provide a true look and feel of the genuine ‘NAHL EXPERIENCE.’

“The addition of a third Future Prospects Tournament provides a valuable opportunity for teams, players, and parents who want to gain true experience, education and exposure,” said NAHL Director of Player Personnel Tony Zasowski. “Combined with our junior-level NAHL Combine, the weekend will be one of exposure in front of a variety of scouts and participating players will come away with some valuable information from our professional staff whose sole purpose is to educate future players, expose them to junior options and to provide a valuable experience throughout the process.”

The NAHL is the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior league boasting 23 teams from across North America. During the past five years more than 1,300 NAHL players have made NCAA commitments and 17 more NAHL players have been selected in NHL Drafts. Last season, the NAHL set an all-time record of 305 NCAA commitments during one season, further reinforcing that when it comes to players entering the league without a commitment, but earning one while they are playing in the league, there is no one better at it than the NAHL.

The NAHL's dedication to player development is demonstrated by the league's high-profile annual exposure events like the NAHL Showcase, the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, and the NAHL Robertson Cup National Championship, which have all evolved into hockey's most prominent and popular of its kind and are a must-see for NCAA programs and NHL teams alike.
