Trio of Atlanta players make college commitments

April 13, 2018
The Atlanta Capitals of the NA3HL are pleased to announce the college commitment of three players from the 2017-18 team.

Defenseman Oliver Lester has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Cortland State, while goaltender Elijah Gibbons and forward Austin Smith have both committed to play NAIA hockey at Concordia University-Ann Arbor.

Lester, 21, appeared in just six games during the regular season, but made a definite impact. The 6’0/186 lbs. native of Calgary, Alberta, recorded seven points in six games during September and October before being called up to the BCHL to play for both the Prince George Spruce Kings and Coquitlam Express.

Gibbons, 20, had a great first and final season playing in the NA3HL. The 6’2/200 lbs. native of Savannah, Georgia, posted an 8-2-1 record with a 1.63 goals against average and a 95.2% save percentage in 11 appearances.

Smith, 20, also just completed his final season of NA3HL hockey. The 6’2/225 lbs. native of Grand Blanc, Michigan recorded 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) in 33 games played during the regular season.
