La Crosse forward Poellinger signs NAHL tender

April 23, 2018
The La Crosse Freeze of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Laudon Poellinger has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Coulee Region Chill of the NAHL’s Midwest Division.

Poellinger, 18, just completed an impressive rookie campaign with the Freeze. The 6’2/216 lbs. native of La Crescent, Minnesota, recorded 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists) in 45 games played during the regular season.  He also had one point in eight playoff games.

Poellinger saw his stock rise after a very impressive outing at the 2018 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament where he played for one of the NA3HL 18U Selects teams and recorded six points in three games.

Prior to playing in the NA3HL for the Freeze, Poellinger had an impressive high school career with La Crescent High School in Minnesota, which is right across the river from La Crosse.

“Few players get the opportunity to play in the NAHL and even fewer are able to do so close to home. Laudon’s development this season has been exceptional as a 17-year-old that came down from the Aberdeen Wings after their pre-season. He had the chance to develop with the Freeze and now has the opportunity to play for our affiliate the Coulee Region Chill. I am pleased that Laudon not only has the opportunity to play in the NAHL but he is able to do so close to home and family,” said Freeze head coach Jon Vaillancourt.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 5, 2018.
