September 13, 2018
The Skylands Kings of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that two-year veteran goaltender Mathias Yttereng has signed a professional contract with the Nidaros hockey club based in Norway.

Nidaros Hockey is a professional ice hockey team in Trondheim, Norway. They currently play in the First Division, the second level of Norwegian ice hockey. The team plays its home games in the Leangen Ishall.

The 21-year-old Yttereng played in net for the Skylands Junior Kings for the past three seasons, averaging a .898% save percentage in 81 games.

The Nidaros General Manager was excited to add Mathias to the 2018-19 roster. “Mathias is a very strong and skillful goalie that has a lot of potential. He works extremely hard on and off the ice and brings a strong asset in his work ethic. We are looking forward to having him on our team."

“During to his two seasons with the Junior Kings, in the NA3HL, Mathias was a team leader on the ice and in the locker room, and instrumental in sending the team to the playoffs in 2017-18," said Kings Head Coach, Adam Mitchell.

“We as a coaching staff are very excited to announce that Mathias Yttereng has signed his first professional contract with the Nidaros Vikings. Mathias finished last season with a record of 13-13-1 with a 90.1 save percentage. As the backbone of the Kings for the past three years we know how Mathias loves to compete and rise to challenges. Mathias worked incredibly hard here at Skylands and was a pleasure to work with every single day. He is extremely deserving of this opportunity. We are very proud and excited to watch his progress in the future.”

"It's a great feeling signing for Nidaros as it is my hometown team. I’m looking forward to being a part of the team and to do well this season. Playing at Skylands definitely prepared me for the move up," said Yttereng.

“We are so proud of Mathias and how he has represented our Skylands Kings organization both locally and internationally and so excited for his continued success and commitment to the Nidaros Vikings," said Rita Mitchell, General Manager for the Kings. “He is a great and humble athlete and team-mate, and the Vikings will not be disappointed in the acquisition of Mathias. We wish him continued success in the coming season, and look forward to following his career."
