Pair of grads cop WCHA postseason honors

March 12, 2011

Two former North American Hockey League (NAHL) players - University of Denver freshman forward Jason Zucker and freshman defenseman David Makowski - were recognized with Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) postseason honors.

Makowski was named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team. The Wildwood, Mo., native won a Robertson Cup championship with the St. Louis Bandits during the 2007-08 season. That year, he put up four goals and 16 assists in 51 regular-season games.

Zucker, from Las Vegas, was named the WCHA Rookie of the Year, to the All-WCHA Second Team and to the All-WCHA Rookie Team. He played in the NAHL during the 2008-09 season as a member of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. A second-round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in 2010, Zucker tallied 11 goals and four assists in 36 NAHL regular-season games.
