NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

October 24, 2018

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending October 21, 2018. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Tristan Trudel, F, Peoria Mustangs

As Peoria nabbed three out of four possible points from a weekend doubleheader against division rival St. Louis, Trudel stood out with multiple points in each contest. In Friday’s 5-4 OT loss, Trudel posted a pair of helpers, including the primary assist on Blake Finley’s tying effort with just 25 seconds remaining. Saturday’s 3-2 SO win featured more of the same production from the Dunlap, IL native, as he factored in on both Peoria regulation goals, scoring one and assisting on the other. Trudel now boasts points in each of his last five outings, potting 5g-6a-11pts in that span.

2nd Star: Noah Brandau, G, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Benjamin Cope, D, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts – Hunter Muzzillo, D, St. Louis Jr. Blues – Trevor Smith, G, Peoria Mustangs – Jacob Wiethaupt, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Tyler Rudek, F, Northeast Generals

The Generals had themselves quite the weekend, handing the L/A Nordiques their first loss in 13 games to start the season on Friday and notching another W over Cape Cod on Saturday. Rudek figured as a standout playmaker in both contests, scoring once and setting up a whopping four other tallies in Friday’s 7-2 win over L/A, before following that showing up with a pair of goals and three helpers in Saturday’s 10-5 victory. Rudek has recorded at least a point in every game played so far this season, and has now notched three consecutive five-point efforts.

2nd Star: Cade Lambdin, F, Long Beach Sharks

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Thad Marcola, F, Northeast Generals – Dino Mukovoz, F, Long Beach Sharks

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Mikael Levokari, G, Bozeman Icedogs

Entering the weekend on a four-game skid, Levokari and the Icedogs got off on the right foot with a 5-0 shutout win over Butte on Friday, followed by an 8-2 defeat of Yellowstone on Saturday. Levokari starred in each contest, facing down 22 of 22 pucks on Friday and 18 of 20 in Saturday’s win. The native of Finland has posted a .900 save percentage or above in four of his five starts this year, and allowed one goal or fewer in three.

2nd Star: Dominic Canic, F, Bozeman Icedogs

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): None

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Colin Burgess, G, Oswego Stampede

Despite starting the two of three games last week that Oswego did not win, Burgess’ performances were second to none. On Friday, Burgess turned aside a whopping 55 of 58 shots in a 3-2 OT loss to Binghamton – just the third time that the high-flying Senators have failed to score more than three times in 14 games this season. On Sunday, he helped the Stampede force another overtime with 28 saves on 29 shots in a 2-1 SO loss to Skylands. With a .948 and .966 save percentage in last week’s respective outings and a two-game total of 83 saves on 87 shots, Burgess now boasts seven of nine total starts with a .910 save percentage or higher.

2nd Star: Zach Bell, F, Binghamton Jr. Senators

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Trevor Christopher, D, Skylands Kings – Wade Moak, F, Oswego Stampede – Jacob Robertson, D, Niagara Falls Powerhawks – Zakary Sparks, F, Skylands Kings

South Division Star of the Week: Michael Redmon, F, Texas Brahmas

The Brahmas continue to tussle with Mid Cities atop the South division, and a pair of crucial wins over College Station have them just two points behind the 10-2-0-0 Stars. Redmon led the way for the surging Brahmas last week, starting off the weekend set with a goal and an assist in a 5-0 shutout of the Spirit. The Ann Arbor, MI native then helped Texas explode for a 17-2 win on Saturday, lighting the lamp twice and setting up another quartet of tallies to bring his weekend total to 3g-5a-8pts. Redmon now boasts four straight multi-point outings and has notched at least a point in each of his 11 games played this season, scoring in eight of those.

2nd Star: Samuli Aarinen, G, Louisiana Drillers

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Stephen Guadalajara, D, Mid Cities Jr. Stars - Josh Linn, F, Mid Cities Jr. Stars

West Division Star of the Week: Ryan Pogue, F, Granite City Lumberjacks

After notching just five points in his first six games, Pogue kicked off his weekend with a bang, notching four goals and an assist in a 17-1 win over Wisconsin on Friday and scoring again in Sunday’s 8-0 win, also over the Whalers. In just two games, the Bemidji, MN native more than doubled his season-long point total and helped his team to a pair of key victories. Pogue also posted a +5 across the two contests, and has featured as a plus-player in six of eight outings in the 2018-19 campaign.

2nd Star: Brendan Studioso, F, North Iowa Bulls

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Jimmy McDermott, F, North Iowa Bulls – Bailey Sommers, F, Granite City Lumberjacks
