Whalers forward Hanson gets call to the NAHL

October 25, 2018
The Wisconsin Whalers, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that forward Sam Hanson has been called to the North American Hockey League (NAHL) by the Jamestown Rebels, who compete in the league’s East Division.

The 6’1/194 lbs. forward and native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, first made a NA3HL roster last season, where he stood out as a point-per-game-player with the Whalers (6 G, 17 A in 23 games).  He was also selected to and played in the 2018 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.

In 2018-19, he has increased his output to an average of more than three points per game, which includes nine goals and 15 assists in just seven league fixtures.

“ We are very happy for Sam to get a chance and play well for the Rebels. Sam works hard on and off ice and this is a great opportunity for him and our program,” said Whalers head coach Tom McDermott.

This is not Hansen’s first stint in the NAHL. He has played parts of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons with the Minot Minotauros. He is the second NA3HL player and first Whaler to be called up to the NAHL this season.
