NA3HL announces monthly player awards for October

November 5, 2018

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced its monthly player awards for the month of October. The Bauer Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month is Marc Faia of the Northeast Generals. The Bauer Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month is Cole Ouellette of the L/A Nordiques. The Vaughn NA3HL Goaltender of the Month is Mikael Foucher of the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Only players who are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the NA3HL monthly awards.

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month: Marc Faia, Northeast Generals

Only one other NA3HL skater logged more points than Faia in October, and his success helped push the Generals to within one point of the top-ranked L/A Nordiques in the Coastal Division on the back of nine wins in 11 outings last month. Faia notched at least a point in 10 of those 11 games, scoring in seven, to bring his October total to a whopping 11g-21a-32pts. Additionally, the Everett, MA native earned Coastal Division Star of the Week honors during back-to-back weeks on October 10th and 17th. Faia was called up to the NAHL’s Northeast Generals last weekend, and played in his first NAHL contest on Saturday.

Runner-Up: Vladislav Sorokin, Rochester Grizzlies

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Colby Audette, L/A Nordiques – Chuck Bay, Milwaukee Power – Steven Ford, Skylands Kings – Sam Hanson, Wisconsin Whalers – Luke Hartge, Yellowstone Quake – Dante Jones, St. Louis Jr. Blues – Thomas Magnavite, Coulee Region Chill – Payton McSharry, Great Falls Americans – Michael Redmon, Texas Brahmas – Deric Richison, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts – Blake Siewertsen, Louisiana Drillers – Bailey Sommers, Granite City Lumberjacks – Brendan Studioso, North Iowa Bulls – Tristan Trudel, Peoria Mustangs

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month: Cole Ouellette, L/A Nordiques

With Northeast on their heels, the Nordiques took 6 of 7 games in October, thanks in part to consistently strong showings from Ouellette on the blue line. The defenseman posted three goals and 14 assists in just seven games played, recorded at least a point in six of those seven contests and went a stellar +21 in that span. Ouellette particularly starred in the final weekend of the month, nabbing nine points across a pair of wins over Long Beach. Ouellette and teammate JP Chauvin, September’s Defenseman of the Month, currently pace all blueliners in scoring with 33 and 31 points in 15 and 14 games, respectively.

Runner-Up: Trevor Christopher, Skylands Kings

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Mitch Dolese, Louisiana Drillers – Blake Finley, Peoria Mustangs – Luke Hefty, Wisconsin Whalers – Blake Holmes, Coulee Region Chill – Mason Kruger, St. Louis Jr. Blues – Tami Merilainen, Northeast Generals – Trevor Minard, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts – Jordan Olson, Granite City Lumberjacks – Matej Palfy, Texas Brahmas – Ryan Payne, Milwaukee Power – Harrison Stewart, North Iowa Bulls

Vaughn NA3HL Goaltender of the Month: Mikael Foucher, St. Louis Jr. Blues

After suffering just his first regulation loss of the season in his first October start on the 5th, Foucher bounced back to the tune of four straight victories and a .929 save percentage across the whole month. The Jr. Blues won six of eight games last month, including two standout wins with Foucher between the pipes: a 5-4 OT win over rival Peoria and a strong 3-1 bounce-back win over North Iowa following the aforementioned loss on Oct. 5. The Montreal native stopped 130 of 140 shots across his five starts, allowing just 10 goals for a stingy 1.98 GAA in the month of October.

Runner-Up: Bryce Runyan, Texas Brahmas

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Samuli Aarinen, Louisiana Drillers – Noah Brandau, Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts – Aaron Dickstein, Milwaukee Power – Michael Janke, Granite City Lumberjacks – Daniel Miller, L/A Nordiques, Devin Naidow, Coulee Region Chill – Josh Sears, Skylands Kings – Dysen Skinner, North Iowa Bulls – Trevor Smith, Peoria Mustangs – Kai Tomita, Wisconsin Whalers
