Brahmas sweep Drillers with OT win on Monday

November 13, 2018
Texas 3 @ Louisiana 2 (OT) – Brahmas forward Cal Couell scored twice, including the overtime-winner as Texas completed a three-game road sweep of the Louisiana Drillers thanks to a 3-2 win in the lone NA3HL game on Monday. With the win, the Brahmas are now two points ahead of the Mid-Cities Jr. Stars for 1st place in the South Division.

The Drillers opened the scoring in the 1st period thanks to the first goal of the season from Drew Wotta.

Texas took a 2-1 lead in the 2nd period with goals from Parker Mara and Couell. The Drillers came back late in the period to tie the game on Blake Siewertsen’s 15th goal of the season.

After a scoreless 3rd period, the game would be decided in overtime, as Couell converted on a nice passing play on the back door just as time expired on a Brahmas power play.

Texas goalie Bryce Runyan made 33 saves in the win, while Drillers goalie Samuli Aarinen made 36 saves in the OT loss.
