NA3HL announces Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

December 20, 2018

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending December 18, 2018. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the six divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Austin Keil, F, Peoria Mustangs

Keil played a stout role both before and during Peoria’s Showcase run, logging six points in four total games last week. Keil bagged two helpers in a game against Wausau on the 14th to whet his scoring appetite for the Showcase. He then posted back-to-back two-goal efforts, including the GWG in both contests against New England (OT) and Mid Cities. Dating back to Nov. 11, Keil has been held off the scoresheet in two outings, recording 7-12—19 in that span.

Coastal Division Star of the Week: Dino Mukovoz, F, Long Beach Sharks

Mukovoz saw action in just two of Long Beach’s three contests at the Showcase, but his impact was clearly felt in both games as he led all Sharks skaters with four points in Blaine despite missing out on Monday. The Lithuanian forward logged an assist in a lopsided loss to Coulee Region on Sunday, then potted 1-2—3 in Tuesday’s closer loss to a strong Missoula team. Mukovoz was also a +3 across the two contests, despite the scorelines.

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Sterling Morin, F, Bozeman Icedogs

Playing just his first games at the junior level during the Showcase, Morin stepped into the Icedogs lineup and fit in immediately with two goals – including the game-winner over Skylands – in his first outing. Morin then followed that performance up with a goal in each of Bozeman’s two remaining Showcase matchups, striking on the power-play on Monday and marking his team’s only goal on Tuesday.

Northeast Division Star of the Week: Nick Snyder, F, Oswego Stampede

Snyder has been on a tear as of late with points in four straight entering the Showcase and kept his good times rolling in Blaine, finding the scoresheet in each contest. Sunday saw the Clay, NY native score his team’s only goal against Rochester. Snyder followed that up with an assist on Monday against Bozeman, and another tally on Tuesday that put the Stampede ahead in the third period before the Stars came back to win on overtime.

2nd Star: Trevor Christopher, D, Skylands Kings

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Colin Burgess, G, Oswego Stampede – Kavan Johnson, G, Skylands Kings

South Division Star of the Week: Bryce Runyan, G, Texas Brahmas

The Brahmas could not have asked for a better Showcase showing, posting three wins over three other first-place teams to stretch their win streak to a whopping 10 games and strengthen their hold on the South Division. Runyan was a star in two of those contests, stopping 19 of 19 in a shutout of the Helena Bighorns and turning aside 15 of 15 in a shared game with teammate Thomas Held against Binghamton. Since Oct. 12, Runyan has won seven of eight appearances with a .900 or higher save percentage in each victory.
