Whalers keep playoff hopes alive with win on Thursday
Wausau 2 @ Wisconsin 9 – Whalers forward Justin Schwartmiller picked up right where he left off from the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, as he recorded a hat-trick on Thursday night in a 9-2 win over Wausau to keep the Whalers playoff chances alive. Schwartzmiller, who had six points in three games at the Top Prospects Tournament for the Central Division team, scored twice in the 1st period and added another goal in a four-goal 2nd period for the Whalers. Also scoring for Wisconsin was Trevor Timm, Tanner Mros, Sam Hanson, Jeff Bishop, Jack Royer, and Alex Kesler. Wausau got goals from Rollie Carlson and Tanner Eskro. With the win, the Whalers kept their playoff hopes alive as they are six points out of the final playoff spot in the Central with six games to play. Kai Tomita made 21 saves in the win, while Lance Muir Jr. made 30 saves in the loss. Boxscore
