L/A Nordiques defenseman Ouellette signs NAHL tender
March 19, 2019
The L/A Nordiques of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Cole Ouelette has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Maine Nordiques, who will take to the ice in the NAHL’s East Division in the 2019-20 season.
Ouellette, 19, is currently competing in his second season of junior hockey, which has been spent entirely in the NA3HL with the Nordiques. The 5’11/180 lbs. native of Lewiston, Maine, led all NA3HL defensemen in scoring during the 2018-19 regular season with 87 points (16 goals, 71 assists) in 44 games played.
Ouellette was also selected to and played in the 2019 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament for the Coastal Division team.
In his two-year NA3HL career, Ouellette has appeared in 89 career regular season games and recorded 146 career points.
He also has 11 points in seven career Fraser Cup Playoff games.
He is the first player from the L/A Nordiques this season who has signed an NAHL tender.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL - plus or minus any trades - which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on June 4, 2019.
