NA3HL announces Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

November 24, 2020

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending November 22, 2020. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

Central Division Star of the Week: Vinny Servizzi, F, St. Louis Jr. Blues

Playing just his second and third games in a Jr. Blues uniform this week, Servizzi burst onto the scene with a 2g-2a—4pts effort in two road wins over Milwaukee. After being held pointless in his NA3HL debut on Oct. 31, the St. Louis native bagged a goal and two helpers in Friday’s win, then posted the game-winner in the second victory on Saturday. Servizzi also went an impressive +4 this week despite the Power netting seven goals across the weekend set.

2nd Star: Ethan Chesney, F, Peoria Mustangs

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Connor Bennett, F, Peoria Mustangs — Owen Carlson, G, St. Louis Jr. Blues — Steven Delikat, F, Milwaukee Power — Parker Severson, F, Oregon Tradesmen — Garrett Smith, F, Rochester Grizzlies — Teejay Torgrimson, F, Rochester Grizzlies — Sam VanderHoeven, Oregon Tradesmen — Zach Wilson, D, Milwaukee Power

East Division Star of the Week: Brandon Avezov, F, New Jersey Titans

The Titans talisman was at his best during New Jersey’s OT win over Long Beach this week. The Wednesday matinee saw Avezov carry over his positive momentum from a four-point showing on the 15th, as he scored once and assisted another during regulation time, then buried a rebound in OT to give his team the win over the Sharks. The prolific Avezov now leads his team with 13g-11a—24pts in just 11 games, a mark that ranks ninth among all NA3HL skaters.

2nd Star: Jonah Sabatini, F, New Jersey Titans

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): None

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Jack Harris, F, Yellowstone Quake

Harris and the Quake hosted Butte for a back-to-back set this week, in which Harris was as dangerous as ever. Entering the week on a three-game point streak and with goals in two straight, Harris torched the Cobras for 2g-4a—6pts in two close games. Down 3-0 in the second period of Saturday’s game, Harris scored the tying goal in the third period and then set up the game-winner with eight minutes to play. Sunday was almost deja vu for the Cody, WY native, as Harris again netted a tying goal in the third period and posted a whopping three assists — once again setting up the game-winner in this tilt as well. Harris’ explosive week pushes him into a tie for 6th in the NA3HL with 15g-11a—26pts in 14 games.

2nd Star: Maxim Currie, G, Missoula Jr. Bruins

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): AJ Benit, D, Great Falls Americans — Liam Bland, F, Missoula Jr. Bruins — Alex Jackson, F, Great Falls Americans — Austin Lawless, D, Yellowstone Quake

South Division Star of the Week: John Mulvihill, F, El Paso Rhinos

It was rivalry week for Mulvihill and the Rhinos this week, as El Paso traveled to Oklahoma City and earned a two-game split against the tough Blazers. After being held off the scoresheet in Friday’s OT loss, Mulvihill was key to El Paso’s bounce-back win on Saturday with his second two-point outing in three games. Down by one early in the second, Mulvihill netted the tying tally, then capped off a four-goal Rhinos outburst with an assist at the end of the frame. Averaging a point-per-game, Mulvihill’s 2g-3a—5pts in five games rank tied for fourth on El Paso’s roster.

2nd Star: None

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): None

West Division Star of the Week: Caleb Huffman, D, North Iowa Bulls

The Bulls cruised to a pair of wins over the visiting Steel this week, and Huffman’s offensive production from the blue line was a key reason for his team’s success. With a goal and an assist on Friday, followed by a three-assist outing on Saturday, Huffman shared the scoring lead for all Bulls skaters on the weekend, and his five points pushed him above a point-per-game pace on the season. With 2g-7a—9pts in six games, Huffman ranks tied for 16th among NA3HL defensemen, and second among Bulls blueliners.

2nd Star: Nick Richert, F, Granite City Lumberjacks

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Hanson O’Leary, F, Granite City Lumberjacks — Max Savaloja, F, North Iowa Bulls
