NA3HL announces monthly player awards for February

March 4, 2021

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced its monthly player awards for the month of February 2021. The Bauer Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month is Carson Jones of the North Iowa Bulls. The Bauer Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month is Blake Arneson of the Rochester Grizzlies. The Vaughn NA3HL Goaltender of the Month is Danny Fraga of the St. Louis Jr. Blues. Only players who are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the NA3HL monthly awards.

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Forward of the Month: Carson Jones, North Iowa Bulls

Jones’ consistent scoring saw him top the NA3HL in goals during the month of February, averaging a goal-per-game as he lit the lamp in all but three of his 12 outings en route to a month-long mark of 12g-7a—19pts. The 2001-born sniper was at his best early in the month, posting six strikes through his first four games. And after posting his only game without a point on the 13th, Jones closed the month on a seven-game point streak, with goals in five of those matchups. With five multi-point outings and a pair of game-winning goals, Jones was the engine behind a stout North Iowa offense, and pushed his impressive season stats to 18g-15a—33pts in 22 games on the season.

Bauer Hockey NA3HL Defenseman of the Month: Blake Arneson, Rochester Grizzlies

Arneson made his NA3HL debut in February, logging five games for the Grizzlies. Despite the small sample size, Arneson’s impact on the blue line was undeniable. With 4g-3a—7pts and a +8 rating in five outings, the 2002-born blueliner consistently chipped in offensive production while keeping a steady hand in the defensive end. Arneson scored a goal in four of five games last month — including a game-winner on the 13th — and posted an even or better +/- rating in four of five as well. His highlight came on the 26th, when Arneson put up his first multi-point performance of the year (1g-2a—3pts) in a win over Oregon. Arneson will look to build on his strong February as the season enters its final month.

Vaughn NA3HL Goaltender of the Month: Danny Fraga, St. Louis Jr. Blues

Fraga backstopped the Blues in nearly perfect fashion last month, debuting in the NA3HL with a 4-0-0 record, .969 save percentage, 1.00 GAA and one shutout through February. His greatest “blemish” came at the start of the month, when he gave up two goals on 41 shots in a win over Milwaukee. From there though, he allowed just two goals in his final three starts, stopping 36 of 37 against Peoria, 24 of 25 against Wausau and recording a 28-save shutout of the RiverWolves on the 25th. Fraga totaled 127 saves on 131 shots over the course of the month, and his .969 save percentage is tops among NA3HL netminders with multiple appearances on the year.
