NA3HL announces Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending March 7, 2021. The divisional stars of the week are awards given each week of the regular season to the top-performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches.

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Dylan Schneider, F, Rochester Grizzlies

Schneider collected seven points (3g, 4a) in three road games last week, helping the Grizzlies win each contest. The Rochester native bagged two goals and a helper against Wausau on Thursday, two assists against Oregon on Friday and another goal and assist in the rematch with the Tradesmen on Saturday. The 20-year-old is currently riding a four-game point-streak with 3g-5a—8pts in that span, and boasts 14g-15a—29pts in 30 games on the season.

2nd Star: Mason Ausmus, D, Milwaukee Power

East Division Star of the Week: Nikita Kovalev, F, Springfield Jr. Hat Tricks

Kovalev hit the ice for four games last week, nabbing 2g-6a—8pts in that span. The Greenwich, CT native posted a goal and an assist on Wednesday, and after being held scoreless on Friday managed to bounce back with three assists on Saturday and a goal and two more helpers on Sunday. Kovalev has recorded seven multi-point performances in his last eight outings, and has collected 9g-15a—24pts in 17 games with the Jr. Hat Tricks this season.

2nd Star: Jake Hosszu, D, Northeast Generals

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Derek Humphreys, F, Sheridan Hawks

After a pair of quiet games to close out February, Humphreys rebounded with seven points in two games to open the month of March. Humphreys, a 5-foot-7, 150 lbs. native of Spokane, WA, scored once and set up two other tallies on Friday, then turned up his playmaking with four assists on Saturday — his second game with four or more points since joining the team on January 15. Humphreys’ seven point explosion bumped his season metrics to 6g-18a—24pts in 14 games on the year.

2nd Star: Matt Schoer, G, Yellowstone Quake

South Division Star of the Week: Artem Korolev, F, Oklahoma City Blazers

Korolev picked up 3g-4a—7pts in a pair of games against El Paso last week, playing a key role in Oklahoma City’s 2-0-0 weekend against its rival. The Russian sniper was in fine form with two goals on Friday, then played a set-up role on Saturday with another goal and a whopping four assists, marking his second five-point performance since the start of February. Korolev now has goals in four straight contests, and has ballooned his season statistics to 29g-33a—62pts in 34 games on the year.

2nd Star: Jack Lambert, F, Louisiana Drillers

Honorable Mention (alphabetical): Tyler Blanchard, F, Texas Brahmas — Kyle Karoleski, G, Louisiana Drillers — Petr Philippov, F, Oklahoma City Blazers — Blake Rothstein, F, Texas Brahmas

 

West Division Star of the Week: Carson Simon, F, Granite City Lumberjacks

Simon nabbed 1g-4a—5pts in two games last week, leading the Lumberjacks to a pair of victories over West Division rivals. On Friday, he set up Granite City’s first goal of the game before netting the game-winner early in the third period. After that strong performance, Simon posted three assists — his second three-point showing since the start of February — to help the Lumberjacks past the Steel on Sunday. Simon is now up to 15g-15a—30pts in 27 games this year, eclipsing the point-per-game pace he set in Granite City last season.

2nd Star: Lucas Jorgenson, F, North Iowa Bulls
