St. Louis defenseman Boccardi makes college commitment

March 29, 2021

The St. Louis Jr. Blues of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that defenseman Joey Boccardi has committed to play ACHA Division I hockey for Missouri State and will continue his hockey career at the collegiate level as part of the Ice Bears program.

“Joey has been a huge part of our team for the last three years,” said Jr. Blues GM and head coach Chris Flaugher. “For our staff to watch him grow as a player and a person is what this is all about. We wish Joey nothing but the best and much success at Missouri State.”

Boccardi has been a key piece for the Jr. Blues beginning in the 2018-19 season. He has played in 114 games for the St. Louis Jr. Blues in the last three seasons and has also made three appearances for the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL).

He appeared in both the 2019 and 2020 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournaments.

The 19-year-old has played in 28 games for the Jr. Blues this season. He has notched 11 points and has scored four goals, including an overtime game-winner at Oregon March 26.

He is an alum of St. John Vianney High School, where he earned St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro Player of the Year honors in 2019-2020. He was also named part of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Decade Third Team while part of the Vianney program.
