Sheridan forward Wieben makes NCAA commitment

April 22, 2021

The Sheridan Hawks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward Nick Wieben has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Concordia University in Wisconsin.

Wieben, 20, just completed his second full season of playing junior hockey in the NA3HL. The 5’10/175 lbs. native of Mankato, MN, has climbed the ladder of development beginning with 16U and 18U hockey in the NAPHL, moving up to the NA3HL, and also appearing in some NAHL games.

During the 2020-21 season, Wieben began the year playing for the New Ulm Steel, recording eight points in 10 games played. He was then traded to Sheridan, where he put up 22 points in 14 games during the regular season and 12 points in eight games during the Fraser Cup Playoffs and Championship.

“I’m excited and honored to announce my commitment to further my education and play division 3 hockey at Concordia University of Wisconsin . I want to thank all my family, friends, teammates and coaches who have been there for me and supported me along this journey,” said Wieben on Twitter.

Overall, Wieben played in the NA3HL for three seasons, between Sheridan and New Ulm, appearing in 92 career games and recording 81 career points.

Wieben also played in the NAHL for the Lone Star Brahmas on a limited basis.

Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Wieben spent two seasons playing in the NAPHL for the Omaha AAA Hockey Club during his 16U campaign and Sioux Falls during his 18U campaign.
