Saturday Scores: Grizzlies, Lumberjacks widen leads with sweeps

Peoria 1 @ Rochester 3 - The Rochester Grizzlies got a home victory against the Mustangs in a 3-1 win. Kyle Bauer, Cole Gibson, and Adam Johnson scored for Rochester while Christopher Kondiles scored for the Mustangs. Kaleb Bents was nearly perfect as he stopped 18 of 19. Nahuel Veyan made 17 stops as the Grizzlies won their 13th consecutive game.

Granite City 2 @ Mason City 1 (OT) – Only 29 seconds into overtime Bjorn Jorgenson was able to keep Granite City’s win streak alive, getting one past the goalie to secure the 2-1 victory. Late in the 1st, Kullan Daikawa set up Wyatt Halvorson’s first goal of the season to put the Lumberjacks on top. Dillon Schmidt notched the lone goal in the 2nd for Mason City to square things up at one apiece. Matthew Smith secured the win stopping 17 of 18 shots he faced. Erik Chaffe made 29 saves taking the home loss. 

Bay State 5 @ New Jersey 6 (OT) –  A wild back-and-forth thriller ends in overtime heroics, as Roland Ponechal scored 1:04 into OT to secure the win at home against Bay State, his second of the game. Five other members of the Titans recorded multiple points including Lucas Salas, Ryan Kenna, Alex Blaszak, Teito Ishigaki, and Samuel Senft. Tima Basarab and Will Cormie each had a goal and an assist for Bay State, while Dylan Gallagher and Matt Schirm buried the other goals for the visitors. Colin Freitas tallied the win for the Titans making 33 saves. Ben Di Fiore and Cameron Schnopp split the net for Bay State, combining for 40 saves.

Milwaukee 1 @ Oregon 9 – Forward Carter Watters led the Oregon Tradesmen on the scoresheet in their offensive onslaught with two helpers and a hat trick, resulting in a 9-1 win against the visitors. 14 skaters for Oregon recorded points, with notable three-point performances from Tyler Steuck and Sam VanderHoeven. Ben Cremers scored the lone goal for Milwaukee, his sixth of the season.

Great Falls 2 @ Butte 4 – The Cobras evened the weekend series against Great Falls Saturday night, thanks to Nick Bradshaw finding the back of the net in the back half of the 3rd period. Bradshaw finished the night with three points, assisting on two other goals for Butte. Luke Schleusner also finished the contest with a goal and three points and David Hanny scored the remaining goal for the Cobras. Micah Serano kept it close for Great Falls with a goal 3:16 into the 3rd, his second of the night, being the only goals for the Americans. Both goaltenders faced 45 shots as Dale Pfannenstein stopped 43 for the win and Great Falls’ Wyatt Olsonawski stopped 42, taking the loss.

Oklahoma City 7 @ El Paso 3 – Patrick Wyers repeated his two-goal effort from Friday night in El Paso, scoring twice again on Saturday while adding two helpers for Oklahoma City in their impressive 7-3 win against El Paso. Noah Henslee also recorded a four-point night, scoring and assisting twice for the Ice Hawks. Richard Indermill, Jakob Holley, and Jesper Olsson also registered two points. Three different members of the El Paso Rhinos scored and kept it a contest, coming from Connor Thompson, Caden Butler, and Zachary Ware. Nathan Hadley captured the win stopping 33 shots, while Camden Pendleton and Peyton Brendel split time in the blue paint, combining for 42 saves in the loss.

Helena 9 @ Badlands 2 – The Helena Bighorns continued their undefeated dominance in the Frontier Division with a convincing 9-2 win over the Sabres. Seven different skaters for Helena fired goals into the net, Tylor Greene and Logan Matheny leading the offensive surge with two apiece. Taber Gutschick baffled the Badlands’ defensive core, contributing assists to six of the nine goals. The Sabres’ Derrick Brown and Mason Martin deposited the lone two goals past Anthony Adleman, as the netminder stopped the remaining 17 shots, recording his seventh win in as many tries.

Sheridan 4 @ Yellowstone 7 – Keegan Ferguson lead the recharged offense for the Yellowstone Quake’s 7-4 win over Sheridan, scoring a hat trick and dishing an assist in a game that Yellowstone trailed for only a minute and four seconds. Unlike Friday’s result against the Hawks, Yellowstone saw offensive production across all three periods, with points coming from five different skaters. Caden McDonald, Mason Friedricks, and Aaron Hicks each converted goals for the visitors who were outmatched in this high-scoring contest. Cole Eastman secured the victory with 37 saves. Tommy Kariscak and Bo Buckley combined for 37 saves in the loss at Riley Arena. 

Wausau 1 @ St. Louis 4 - The Blues took home a victory over the Cyclones 4-1 as they were led by Charlie Hegger who scored 2 goals. Gus Immken and Jacob Horrall each had a goal as well. Espen Reager picked up the win in net as he stopped 23 shots. For the Cyclones, Cullen Mohring scored their only goal while goaltender Ryan Burke saved 38 of 41 shots.

Northeast 4 @ Long Beach 2 - The Generals extended their win streak to 10 games as they defeated Long Beach 4-2. Tyler Ramm scored twice leading the Generals offense. Matthew Nuzzolilo and Payton Felix each had a goal in the win. Owen McNamee was the playmaker for the Generals, leading the team with 2 assists. Mason Joseph denied 31 shots for Northeast. Jake Weikel and Kyle Gilbert scored for the Sharks and Greyson Skirpan made 48 saves in the loss.

Louisiana 4 @ Mid Cities 3 - Anderson O’Connor’s third period goal was the difference as Louisiana edged Mid Cities 4-3. Chris Littlefield, Braeden Sheaffer, and Timothy Miller all lit the lamp for the Drillers in the victory. Isaac Fuller scored two goals for the Jr. Stars and Brendon Zeis tallied the other. Brandon Keeney grabbed the win in between the pipes with 23 saves. Quillon Bowman played well but was dealt the loss as he made 39 saves.

Atlanta 3 @ TX Brahmas 4 - The Texas Brahmas came away with a win in an absolute thriller, topping the Capitals 4-3. Scoring was spread out for Texas as Michael Imala, Eric Vrkoc, Cameron Colberg, and Elijah Roofe all scored. Kirill Nikulichev led Atlanta in scoring with two goals, while Gonzalo Almanza netted his first of the season. Dolan Gilbert needed just 11 saves to get the win in net while Paul Jarvis was a lot busier, making 52 saves in the loss.

Alexandria 6 @ New Ulm 0 - The Blizzard took care the New Alum Steel, as the won  6-0. Michael Debrito was a superstar, scoring three times. Zachary DeMarce, Benjamin Tschida and Alex Heidenreich each scoring as well. Matt Scribner was the setup man for the Blizzard, nothing three assists. Andrew Tuttle dominated, stopping all 26 shots fired his way. Zach Foster and Nolan Lacosse combined for 28 saves.

Minnesota 1 @ Willmar 6 - The Loons were no match for the WarHawks as Willmar won 6-1. Each of the WarHawks goals were scored by a different player. Brady O’Brien, Luke Johnson, and Elbridge Dekraai all had a goal and an assist. Ben Luedtke, Nolan Grier and Marcus Mack also netted goals for Willmar. Will Pinney improved to 2-2 as he made 23 saves. Caiden Kjelstrom scored for the Loons while Owen Reeve stopped 40 shots.

TX RoadRunners 3 @ Austin 1 - Alexander Opalacz stood on his head and made 67 saves as the RoadRunners outlasted the Ice Bats 3-1. Matthew Edestrand, Mason Bertelsen and Kyle Portlock scored for the Roadrunners in the victory. Lucas Helland had the only goal for Austin, it was his team leading sixth of the year. Brandon Shantz took the loss as he made 23 saves.
