Saturday Scores: Lumberjacks roll to 12th straight win with sweep

Bozeman forward Liam Massie had three points in a weekend road sweep of Yellowstone.

Willmar 0 @ Granite City 4 - Wilson Dahlheimer and Kullan Daikawa each had a goal and an assist while Matthew Smith posted a 20 saves shutout as the Granite City Lumberjacks blanked the Willmar WarHawks 4-0. Hayden Johnson and Tucker Skime each picked up a goal as well in the win for Granite City. Cooper Olson didn’t get any support offensively as he took the loss despite making 44 saves.

Bozeman 6 @ Yellowstone 2 - A three point night from Bentley Simcox led the Bozeman Icedogs over the Yellowstone Quake by a score of 6-2. Liam Massie, Nick Stevens, and Forrest Musselman each logged a goal and an assist for Bozeman. Landon Kusuno also got on the scoresheet with a goal of his own. Liam Scott was the winner in net, he made 33 saves. Camerno Deforest and Jack Harris were the goal scorers for the Quake while Brandon Lakusta and Luc Haggitt combined to make 35 saves.

Alexandria 2 @ Mason City 5 - Carter Newpower took charge for Mason City, scoring two goals and recording two assists. Sota Isogai, Colin Hedland, and Cullen Hogan also scored a goal for the Toros, leading to a 5-2 victory over Alexandria. Owen Carlson was a beast on defense and managed to save 24 of 26 shots fired in his direction. For the Blizzard, Matt McIntyre scored a goal while Joe Gronholz scored a goal and an assist. Joey Greilich was dealt the loss as he made 25 saves.

TX RoadRunners 11 @ Mid Cities 5 - The RoadRunners put on a dominant performance on Saturday, winning 11-5 over the Mid Cities Jr. Stars. Tyler Love led the team in scoring with a hat trick as well as two assists. Right behind him was Jaron Ketterman, Samuel Bourdon, and Jack Klunk, who each scored two. Derek Boutin scored one goal and recorded three assists. Jack Herron put on an outstanding playmaking performance, with five assists. For the Jr. Stars, Colton Sebastian scored two goals and assisted on two. Ilnur Madiarov, Michael Kennedy, and Easton Walters each scored one. Kyle Russell tallied three assists for Mid Cities. Hunter Hein picked up the win in goal with 28 saves while Quillon Bowman turned aside 37 in the loss.

Norwich 1 @ Danbury 2 - A late goal from Elijah Devereaux was the difference as the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks just got past the Norwich Sea Captains 2-1. Ethan Ranger netted the first goal of the game to give Norwich the lead after 20 minutes. Nikita Kovalev would tie things up at one with the assist going to Devereaux. The score remained even until the 15:46 mark of the third period when Devereaux netted his fourth goal of the year. Brennan Churchill was nearly perfect, stopping 28 of 29 to earn the win. Brendan Pellerito was good in his own right as he stopped 29 shots.

St. Louis 1 @ Rochester 5 - Connor Mahony led the Grizzlies offense as his two goals helped them defeat the St. Louis Jr. Blues 5-1. Layten Liffrig, Jameson Folden, and Max Clark each scored a goal in the win for Rochester. Rochester saw nine different players record an assist, with Liffrig getting two. Zach Wiese needed just 13 saves to pick up the win. Brayden Wilson had the only goal for the Jr. Blues while Brendan Cobb made 40 saves.

Minnesota 2 @ New Ulm 9 - Colby Nickel scored a hat trick, leading New Ulm in their dominant 9-2 win over Minnesota. Gus Cantwell scored two and had two assists while  Zach Siegert also scored two goals for the Steel. Conner Souza and Vance Kleinschmidt each chipped in a goal as well. New Ulm’s goaltender Alex Benson saved 32 of 34 shots fired his way. Jamison St. Clair and Kyler Couture provided the offense for the Loons and Owen Reeve stopped 45 shots in the loss.

Peoria 3 @ Wausau 2 - Jared Wisely scored the game deciding goal in the shootout as the Peoria Mustangs defeated the Wausau Cyclones 3-2. Derek Cagle got Wausau in front early with a power play goal and that would be all the scoring until the third period. Hubert Guzy and Jaycob Bland scored two minutes apart to give Peoria their first lead of the night. That lead would be short lived as just 43 seconds later Gage Vierzba scored his ninth of the season to tie the game at two and force overtime and the eventual shootout. After each team had a goal through three rounds, it was the veteran Wisely who net the winner. Naheul Veyan grabbed his first win of the year as he made 37 saves. Mitch Miscevich stopped 29 shots for Wausau.

Milwaukee 1 @ Oregon 2 - Carter Stobb’s first period goal was the difference as the Oregon Tradesmen edged the Milwaukee Power 2-1. Abe Laggis got the scoring started just 3:17 into the game as he picked up his third goal of the season. Milwaukee responded with Dominic Martinetti’s second of the year. The tie would not last long however as Stobb scored just 27 seconds later and then the two goaltenders locked it down from there. Cole Garver picked up the win as he made 33 saves on the night while Cole Shane was the losing netminder despite stopping 37 shots.

TX Brahmas 12 @ Austin 2 - Aleksandr Gamzatov logged aa hat trick and finished with five points as the Texas Brahmas beat the Austin Ice Bats 12-2. Tyler Hildebrandt and Gion Coray both had four points on the night while Seth Manning, Michael Imala, Michael Kramer, Matt Coe, Keegan McArthur and Cameron Colbert all had a goal and an assist each. Elijah Roofe also got on the scoresheet with a goal of his own. Dolan Gilbert grabbed his second win in as many days as he made 15 saves. Coby Nostrant and Dominic Toews scored for Austin while Brandon Shantz and Sebastian Skarzenski each made 26 saves in the loss.

Helena 8 @ Butte 2 - The Helena Bighorns stayed perfect on the season as they took care of the Butte Cobras by a score of 8-2. Eric Gibboney had two goals and four points to lead the Bighorns offense. Samuel Feamster had two goals and a helper in the win. Garrett Bogan, Taber Gutschick, Tyler Alldrege and Tylor Greene all lit the lamp for Helena. Anthony Adleman improved to 7-0 on the year as he made 30 saves. Luke Schleusner had two goals for the Cobras while Dale Pfannenstein and Nikolai Walley combined to make 70 stops.

Louisiana 0 @ El Paso 6 - Peyton Brendel was sensational as he stopped all 48 shots he faced to lead the Rhinos to a 6-0 win over the Drillers. Colin Clough picked up two goals and three points for El Paso while Matthew Gross and Caden Butler both had a goal and an assist. Connor Thompson and Payne Pent found the back of the net for the Rhinos as well. Brandon Keeney and Evan Wittchow teamed up to make 34 saves in the loss for Louisiana.

Badlands 3 @ Sheridan 2 - A late tally from Zach Vockler lifted the Badlands Sabres to a 3-2 win over the Sheridan Hawks. Sheridan had a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes as Nick Tigges and McCaffrey Billings scored their fourth and fifth goals of the season, respectively. In the second, the Sabres got within one thanks to Mason Martin and eventually tied the game with Seth Stock’s sixth goal of the season. After being deadlocked for the majority of the third period, Brady Ridnoour found Vockler, who buried his seventh goal of the season and it would stand as the game winner. Maxim Currie picked up the win in between the pipes with 37 stops while Bo Buckley took the loss, he made 38 saves.
