Saturday Scores: Grizzlies continue Central dominance with sweep

Mason City forward Jack Campion had seven points in two wins this weekend.

Rochester 5 @ St. Louis 2 - Kyle Bauer netted two goals and added an assist as the Rochester Grizzlies beat the St. Louis Jr. Blues 5-2. Max Clark, Max Breon and Mason Thingvold all chipped in goals for the Grizzlies in the win. Brayden Wilson and John Dapron contributed goals for St. Louis. Zach Wiese picked up the win in goal as he made 22 saves, Espen Reager was dealt the loss despite making 47 stops.

Peoria 4 @ Milwaukee 1 - Joe Ambroffi was nearly perfect as he made 25 saves for the Peoria Mustangs in their 4-1 win over the Milwaukee Power. Massimo Polistina, Tristan Trudel and Ryan Callahan all had a goal and an assist in the win while Ethan Chesney also got on the scoresheet. Michael Dalaly scored the lone goal for Milwaukee while Austin Bartell and Spencer Northway teamed up to make 33 saves.

Danbury 0 @ Long Beach 3 - Greyson Skirpan picked up the shutout as the Long Beach Sharks blanked the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Jake Weikel and Holden Wiltfong netted goals in the opening period for Long Beach to give them the two goal lead after 20 minutes. Kyle Gilbert added an empty net goal to seal the win in the final minutes.

Northeast 6 @ Bay State 3 - Sean Gorman scored twice as the Northeast Generals doubled up the Bay State Bobcats 6-3. Braeden Kennedy and Nolan Murphy each had a goal and an assist in the win for Northeast. Zach Sinople also scored for the Generals. Nate Mastrony had a goal and a helper for Will Cormie and Brian Woak also scored for Bay State. D’Mar McCoy was the winner in net as he made 30 saves. Cameron Schnopp was the given the loss as he stopped 34 of 40 shots.

Louisiana 4 @ Atlanta 3: Mark Kurliandchyk scored his second of the game with 3:48 remaining in regulation to provide Louisiana a 4-3 win over Atlanta. The teams traded goals back and forth through 40 minutes, Drillers’ forward Timothy Miller scoring the first of the game and another before intermission to provide a 3-2 lead. Atlanta’s Anthony O’Neal scored a pair and Kaleb Miller tied the game early in the 3rd. Brandon Keeney made 35 saves in the victory while Hudgel Selk was dealt the loss, saving 52. 

Mid Cities 1 @ TX Brahmas 8: Keegan McArthur netted himself a hat trick as the Brahmas powered past Mid Cities 8-1. McArthur, Benjamin Mondou, and Michael Imala each lit the lamp in the 1st, the Brahmas carrying a 3-1 lead into intermission. Imala found the back of the net later and also dished an assist. Jeremiah Snyder and Matt Coe also tallied goals in the victory. Michael Kennedy provided the lone offense for Mid Cities with a goal in the opening period. Anthony Russo was near perfect in net, stopping 16 shots in the win. Adler Hoagland took the loss with 46 saves. 

Mason City 8 @ Minnesota 0: Erik Chaffe stopped all 13 shots to give Mason City a weekend series sweep over Minnesota. The Toros continued their hot offensive streak, scoring eight times with two thanks to Carter Newpower and six other goalscorers. Ryan Kaspar and Jack Campion each dished three assists in the victory. Owen Reeve didn’t have a break in net, making 64 saves. 

Willmar 5 @ New Ulm 0: Willmar snapped a two game losing skid in their convincing 5-0 victory over the Steel. Jeremiah Konkel and Gunnar Sibley each contributed a goal and assist for the WarHawks, Sibley scoring his first of the season. Anthony Foster, Ben Luedtke, and Elbridge Dekraai were the other goalscorers. Will Kunka had a tremendous night between the pipes, stopping all 29 shots for a shutout. Nolan Lacosse was dealt the loss making 47 stops.  

Wausau 1 @ Oregon 3: Oregon’s Abe Laggis extended the lead midway through the 3rd to score the eventual game winner for Oregon in their sixth straight victory. Ian Hedican stole the show led Oregon to victory, having a near perfect night in net with 44 saves. Sam VanderHoeven scored the two other goals for Oregon while Zac Maupin was the only Wausau skater to find one past Hedican. Zach Dosan took the loss in net with 40 saves. 

Yellowstone 1 @ Butte 9: Luke Schleusner lit the lamp four times and three in the 2nd period to carry the Cobras past Yellowstone. Eleven skaters contributed on the scoresheet for Butte, Cade Wessman scoring five points and four others recording multiple points. Braylon Rogers made 34 saves in the victory. Cole Eastman and Luc Haggit shared time between the pipes and combined for 64 saves. 

Great Falls 7 @ Badlands 6: An incredible 13 goal contest saw the visitors come through with a victory over the Sabres. Micah Serino and Tyler Sunagel each found the back of the net twice for Great Falls. Jackson Henningsgard dished three assists in the victory. For Badlands, Carter Johnson highlighted the scoresheet with two tucks. Carter Merritt and Zach Vockler contributed two helpers in the contest. In net, Wyatt Olsonawski captured the victory with 32 saves. Maxim Currie took home the loss with 47 saves. 

Gillette 1 @ Helena 2: Jonathan Peterson tickled the twine 16:53 into the middle slate to extend the lead for Helena and keep their undefeated record alive. Adam Harvey opened the scoresheet with his 14th of the season early in the 2nd. Gillette’s goal was provided by Carson Kuche but Eric Buccholz would keep out the remaining 40 shots to claim the victory. Jake Turek made 35 stops in this tight fought battle. 

Bozeman 7 @ Sheridan 3: A Saturday night battle in Sheridan saw the visiting Bozeman Icedogs take a 7-3 win and complete the series sweep over the Hawks. Forrest Musselman and Nate Brunelle each found the back of the net twice for Bozeman. Luke Busher, Grayden Pond, and Bentley Simcox each tallied a goal. For the Hawks, Mason Friedricks potted a pair of goals and Caden McDonald contributed the other. Between the pipes, Liam Scott was victorious in a 27 save showing. Dealt the loss was Tommy Kariscak with 31 stops.
