NA3HL announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending December 22, 2021. The Divisional Stars of the Week is an award given each week of the regular season to the top performing players in each of the five divisions of the NA3HL as nominated by their head coaches. 

 

Central Division Star of the Week: Layten Liffrig, Forward, Rochester Grizzlies

Grizzlies forward Layten Liffrig found himself on the scoresheet in each of the four games he appeared in totaling 8 points. The Mankato, MN native added a goal and two assists in a 6-4 win over the Mason City Toros. At the 3HL Showcase, Liffrig added a late goal to force OT against the Northeast Generals as well as handing out an assist in the first period. Liffrig helped the Grizzlies in a victory over the Helena Bighorns by giving out three assists. This season he has accumulated 22 points in 14 games. 

2nd Star: Sam VanderHoeven, F, Oregon Tradesmen

East Division Star of the Week: Brennan Churchill, Goalie, Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks

Danbury Goaltender, Brennan Churchill, played perfect in both games he appeared in stopping all 60 shots and earning two shutouts. In a 1-0 shutout win over the Butte Cobras, Churchill backstopped all 28 Cobra shots he faced. Churchill was outstanding again in his second game at the 3HL Showcase, as he shutout the OKC Ice Hawks in a 4-0 final as he kept out all 32 shots he faced. Churchill is 5-1 this season and has recorded 3 shutouts while maintaining a 1.41 GAA and a .960 SV%. 

2nd Star: Dylan Walker, F, Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks

Frontier Division Star of the Week: Jack Harris, Forward, Yellowstone Quake

Quake forward, Jack Harris, put up big numbers at the NA3HL Showcase as he totaled 8 points in Blaine, MN. In a 7-1 win over the Norwich Sea Captains, Harris added a goal and an assist. In a 7-2 takedown of the Austin Ice Bats, Harris was on the scoresheet again with two goals and two assists. In the final game of the showcase, Jack had another two point game with one goal and one assist. The Cody, WY native has totaled 41 points (14G, 27A) in 26 games this season. 

2nd Star: Luke Schleusner, F, Butte Cobras

South Division Star of the Week: Noah Easterson, Forward, El Paso Rhinos

El Paso forward, Noah Easterson, recorded 8 points in 4 games. The Canyon Country, CA native netted a goal and handed out four assists in a 8-2 win over the Wausau Cyclones. Easterson passed out an assist in a 4-2 loss to Long Beach, but the Rhino’s bounced back in a 5-1 win over the Icedogs in the following game where Noah added a goal and an assist. Easterson has totalled 25 points this season with 12 goals and 13 assists in 19 games. 

2nd Star: Josh Hrip, F, Louisiana Drillers

West Division Star of the Week: Cooper Olson, Goalie, Willmar WarHawks

WarHawks netminder Cooper Olson played strong in the two games he was called on to play between the pipes. In a close game against the Mason City Toros, Olson stopped 33 of the 35 shots he faced for a 3-2 win. Olson was called on in Willmars final game of the 3HL Showcase where he was incredible stopping everything that came his way in a 2-0 win over Peoria. In his two game showing, Olson stopped a combined 62 of 64 with a .968 SV% and 1.00 GAA. This season, the Maple Grove, MN native is 7-3 with 2 shutouts, a 2.46 GAA and a .929 SV%.
