Granite City forward Daikawa gets called up to NAHL

January 3, 2022

The Granite City Lumberjacks of the NA3HL are pleased to announce that forward and leading scorer Kullan Daikawa has been called up to play for the Minnesota Wilderness in the NAHL.

Daikawa, 20, joined the Jacks last season after being released from Johnstown. The 6’0/165 lbs. native of Lino Lakes, MN has played in 27 games for the Lumberjacks during the 2021-22 season and leads the team in scoring with 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists).

Daikawa appeared in both Wilderness games this past weekend and recorded a pair of assists.

Last season, Daikawa played in 33 games for the Lumberjacks while posting 4 goals and 13 assists.

“Kullan was a completely new player this year. We all knew he had the ability to be this great. Sometimes it takes time and now it’s paying off for him. He plays a complete 200-foot game and is a kid who holds himself accountable. The Wilderness are getting a great locker room guy and even better person. We can’t wait to see what Kully can do at the next level. We wish him all the best in his final year of junior hockey,” said Associate Head Coach DJ Vold.

Daikawa is one of five Lumberjacks who has been called up this season to the NAHL. He joins the list of Hennen (Anchorage), Stevens (Kenai River), Hicks (Minot), and Smith (Wilderness).

Prior to playing in the NA3HL, Daikawa spent the 2019-20 season playing in the NAPHL for the Sioux Falls Power 18U team.
