Sunday full of sweeps in the South
Louisiana forward Thomas Mougin had a hat-trick and an assist in a win on Sunday.
TX RoadRunners 0 @ TX Brahmas 5: The Brahmas used momentum from last night’s overtime victory to take down the RoadRunners in shutout fashion. All five goals came from different Texas skaters. Joey Carollo scored in the opening frame to break the deadlock. Blake Rothstein, Jeremiah Snyder and Michael Imala followed him up with more goals in the 2nd period. For good measure, Andrew Kungle scored his 3rd of the year on the powerplay late in the final period. Dolan Gilbert kept out all 22 shots he faced in the Brahmas crease. On the other end, Kaleb Banks and Hunter Hein both spent time in net for the RoadRunners, Hein handed the loss stopping 23 of 27 shots.
Peoria 5 @ St. Louis 1: The Mustangs secured the series sweep over the Jr. Blues in a convincing 5-1 victory. After a scoreless 1st period, Peoria piled on four goals in the 2nd to extend the lead quickly. Tristan Trudel, Thomas Kayner, and Massimo Polistina all scored powerplay goals for the visitors and Jake Ratner also buried a goal. In the final frame, St. Louis was provided their 1st and only goal as Jentzen Kaebel scored midway through the period, his 1st of the season. Michael Kennedy tallied another for the Mustangs with just 38 seconds left in regulation. Andrew Doran took the win stopping 24 shots. Ethan Jourden kept out 46 of 51 in the loss.
Louisiana 10 @ Austin 1: Forward Thomas Mougin scored a hat trick and dished an assist to elevate the Drillers over Austin in dominant style. A total of 12 Louisiana skaters found the points sheet in the victory, Josh Hrip scoring and assisting on a pair each. Mark Kurliandchyk tickled the twine and dished three assists. Jack Lambert had four helpers in the victory. Austin’s only goal came early in the opening period as Brody Beahan buried his 6th of the season. Brandon Keeney and Riley Robeson both spent time in Louisiana’s net, Keeney being credited the victory stopping 15 of 16 shots. Sebastian Skarzenski kept out 45 of 55 in the loss.
Atlanta 0 @ El Paso 10: El Paso dominated the Capitals start to finish, scoring multiple goals in all three periods while shutting out the opposition. Riley Hunt-Bahn, Kaiden Hafele, Dani Ceullar, and Colin Clough all found the back of the net in the 1st. Payne Pent scored a pair in the middle frame as Jaxon Penner and Tristen Elmhurst added more goals. In the final slate, Dylan Thompson and Cole Ingram furthered the lead, Ingram scoring his 1st of the season. Peyton Brendel stopped all 27 shots faced to secure the shutout. Hudgel Selk and Coleman Garnier shared Atlanta’s net, Selk credited with the loss stopping 32 of 38 shots.
Oklahoma City 12 @ Mid Cities 2: Garrett Conner and Richard Indermill each deposited hat tricks in Oklahoma City’s emphatic win over the Jr. Stars. Robby Rabroker, Jakob Hollley, and Noah Henslee all buried a pair of goals in the victory to finish out the 12 goals. Mid Cities scorers were Brendon Zeis and Easton Walters. Andrew Owens stopped 15 of 17 shots to take the win. Luc Haggitt and Aaron Palos both spent time in net for Mid Cities, Palos being served the loss with 33 saves on 40 shots.
Norwich 3 @ Northeast 4: Braeden Kennedy potted a pair of goals and added an assist as the Northeast Generals edged the Norwich Sea Captains 4-3. Cody Lambert and Nolan Zotter each found the back of the net as well in the victory. Tony Morran, Troy Harwell and Teagen Beier got on the scoresheet for Norwich. D’Mar McCoy improved to 15-2 on the year as he made 12 saves. Andrew Yocum took the loss as he stopped 36 of 40 shots.
New Jersey 0 @ Bay State 4: Cameron Schnopp was perfect as he denied all 43 shots he faced in the Bay State Bobcats 4-0 win over the New Jersey Titans. Jace Desmarais picked up a pair of goals for the Bobcats. Will Cormie and Brian Woak each grabbed a goal and a helper for Bay State. Donovan Alfama was busy all night as he finished with 38 saves for the Titans.
Badlands 1 @ Bozeman 7: Liam Massie was the star as his hat trick led the Bozeman Icedogs to a 7-1 win over the Badlands Sabres. Bentley Simcox contributed three points of his own, a goal and two assists, for Bozeman. Wesley Rees also potted a pair of goals while Clayton Brown tickled the twine. Zach Vockler grabbed the lone goal for the Sabres. Collin Soderholm grabbed the win in the blue paint by making 20 stops. Maxim Currie was given the loss despite making 38 saves.
Long Beach 0 @ Danbury 3: Brennan Churchill turned aside all 35 chances the Sharks threw at him as the Jr. Hat Tricks blanked Long Beach 3-0. Dylan Walker’s 11th of the year gave Danbury the early lead. Nick Rogers extended the lead early in the middle frame with his 18th of the season. Oleg Egorov put the nail in the coffin with his sixth tally of the season late in the final minutes. Greyson Skirpan stopped 28 of 31 for the Sharks.
